In my rule set, I find experience gain a curse at times. I play seven characters and can only play a character until it's 5 levels higher than the lower character. So I have to stop farming gear with the higher characters until the weaker ones catch up. I play solo/self-found/HC/BoE. Very restrictive ruleset but it keeps the game going for years. Current characters are 68/63/63/63/63/63/63 and I'd use voidhome if I had one.

I like the Hammer, have 2 of them and still working on 6 linking. And its not as useless as this one.

void hold is great unique if you want a 400 dps 2 hander for dirt cheap.

It has a very simple purpose. It provides easy high DPS for people who just want to progress through the story. It's extremely common and very powerful for someone progressing.
