PoE is no MMO, an MMO needs a persistent world by definition - Planetside/WoW/Tera is an MMO, but D2/D3/PoE aren't.
Make
Spectral Throw
great again
So what - Final fantasy X is one of my fave games ever, and it has one of the best fighting/skill systems in the series. Works perfectly here too.
Are you saying that new games can't have similar systems to past games? Do you realize what the word genre means? New games that come out in certain genres will have recognizable mechanics to past games in that same genre.

PoE is clearly inspired by many other games. Diablo, Magic the Gathering, Final Fantasy, and I'm sure many more.

While the passive skill tree looks similar, it's not a carbon copy. All the nodes were carefully thought out and connected.

How did 2D platformers come about? Someone invented it, and because people liked the mechanic, many others improved upon it. Then when 3D rolled around, people started making 3D platformers. Do you advocate a stranglehold on innovation and improvements to game mechanics simply because someone else thought of it first?
Nothing new, they have said on interviews that they were influence by other games like Magic the Gathering and Final Fantasy
OMG. And they also copied stuff from D2!! *gasp*

Most of the ideas in PoE aren't new, but that's not the point. What's new about PoE is the depth to which these systems have been developed and the complexity of interactions between the various factors.

No, an MMO needs to be Massive, Multiplayer, and Online by definition.

Why are you COMPLAINING that GGG was inspired by FFX's grid? That thing is amazing, and PoE's skill tree is amazing. Look at League of Legends, it copied AoS and DoTA! Look at World of Warcraft, it copied Ultima Online! See, that just sounds silly when you put it that way, they are way different, but they have been "inspired" by their predecessors, just as everything in history has.
i too fas fo youuuuuuu

When someone asks me where I first heard of Planetside (while registering they did ask me but could only answer "other" I'm afraid) I will say: that's easy! It was a guy called CommodoX at the PoE forums.

C'mon, while the servers are a bit iffy, gotta try something else, right?

Well, just wanted to break the ice on this thread, I guess - go easy on me, please!

Cheers
