Define "Hardcore player", please
For me solo self-found (including not letting one character farm for another) with your own build and taking said character deep into endgame in a hardcore league is about as hardcore as you can get in this game.

" I think you may have missed the point of my post.... I think the on-going confusion is because the idea that some players are "hardcore" and some players "casual" is a useless dichotomy which is little better than the caricature in my post. Asking people to define what makes someone "hardcore" in a game will always boil down to a subjective e-peen measuring contest. From Urban Dictionary:
"Someone who plays video games as a primary hobby. They tend to spend large amounts of time playing games, often in excess of two or three hours a day. Hardcore gamers tend to care less about graphics then casual gamers. While some specialize in a single genre, they typically have fairly diverse taste in games, frequently playing a wide variety of games from different genres. They'll often seek out obscure and older games, based on word of mouth or positive critical reception. Hardcore gamers put good gameplay above all else, and don't mind if a good game has poor (or even nonexistent) graphics, sound, characters and plot. The stereotypical hardcore gamer is out of shape, and has poor hygene. They spend a lot of their disposable income on video games, consoles, or PC upgrades, and a large percentage of their free time either playing video games or discussing them, online and off. They wear either black clothing, or T-shirts with geeky pop-culture references, often to video games. Their social skills may be sub-par, and they may be less likely than others their age to have many friends, a jobs and a girlfriend/boyfriend. Some of these stereotypes are negative, and they certainly don't apply to all hardcore gamers, but there's a fair amount of truth to them." I realize this describes Kripparrian to a T. |

a hardcore player is a player who accepts the rules and plays the game with them , pushed himself/herself to get further in the game not to give up or take easy ways out.
a casual player is a player wanting the easy way out , therefore complaining about hard parts of games , usually defended by statesments of a hardcore player is a fanboy or a nolifer (which in most cases they are not). That is obviously the easy way out of the discussion and therefore will be used almost exclusively. Last edited by khemintiri#3096 on Jan 30, 2014, 11:07:28 AM

" Only i fool doesn't complain when they not rewarded for their hard work. In the old days a hardcore player was simply some-one who played a game for many hours a day everyday. In ARPGs its slightly different because of the hardcore game mode. But what it certainly isn't is the item buying e-peen waving alt F4 crowd. In POE maybe the closest to a hardcore player is some-one who plays hardcore mode, self found for 10 hours a day everyday. " i would also like to point out that even though he blames casuals it seems alot of the complaints are comming from people who have spent 100s of hours on the game and still don't have the gear they want(WAHHHH RNG) These would be hardcore players. It seems to me most complaints are coming from the hardcore crowd as most complaints have to do with "end game" and if you are really that obsessed with end game you are not a casual player. |
