How would you even do that in the first place? Are you trying to get a gift card?

Wow. No. I'm trying to make someone else either do the legwork and find me a coupon code for a % discount on Origin. Or, I'm hoping someone has one already. I wan't a discount on a very expensive game. You guys want this beta key.

It's a non-monetary trade, and I highly doubt it's illegal by any means whatsoever.

My warning post is not a catch-all. The deal really is that any transaction where there is no arbitrator, and the trade must be done asymmetrically, there is inherent risk associated for the person who trades first.

Ultimately that is the warning...

All asymmetric trades pose this risk, and therefore are requested not to be posted on these forums.

If you can find a service or a method that can guarantee a simultaneous trade of verified assets, then there would be less of a problem... albeit GGG still does not support the trade of their codes for any sort of personal gain.

GGG's codes are given out to members with a note explaining that if they don't have personal friends that they can give them to, that they should share them with the community and those people who have been waiting a long time. GGG is doing everyone a huge favor by making the game free with ethical microtx... they more or less would like to see the same ethics applied to their beta keys.

I'll leave this here just as a reminder

there is also this

yeah trades are both at your own risk, and usually deleted for being directly monetized or approximately of direct value.

I'd personally not have a problem with free item for free item trades, but just like anything else, without an arbitrator the party who trades first risks being scammed.

In both cases GGG would prefer that people not get scammed off of their forums by other members :P
