Alchemy shards - what's the point?
So rare items are fairly easy to get.
Alchemy orbs well not so easy but they do drop occasionally. rare items that can yield shards are not easy to get and don't drop often and the larger recipes are ghastly in terms of memorising the items you need and scanning all the rares you get to fit the criteria let alone fitting them all in your inventory and stash. It just is an awful lot of effort to go to for miniscule reward. What's the point of having stingy alchemy shard recipes if getting a full orb from a drop is much easier? Especially when you're far more likely to find a sweet rare of the type you want than you are to get an orb in the first place. Seems like the whole order of how that is supposed to go is out of whack especially when the orbs themselves - while good, are still at the mercy of ruthless RNG and will probably yield you a crappy item 80% of the time. Because alchemy shards add up to alchs pretty quick, and they're a bonus. Instead of just getting alt shards.
The Aug recipe is the out of place one |

Maybe you should play the game a little longer and learn a bit more before you complain about drop rates and existence of shard currencies. You said you had a what, 40's character?

" Yeah but I'm speaking from the perspective of most of the people who will ever play this game, you should already be getting good gear at the end of your first playthrough. I'd like to see a percentage breakdown of people who have played the game vs people who level past 50, I would not be surprised if somewhere north of 90% of the people that ever play this game don't make it past 50. |

Like I said, they're a bonus for vendoring gear you don't want.

What a bizarre thread.
You don't like the Alc Shard recipe because it's too slow and difficult to memorise, but at the same time say it's easier to farm them, and then say the Alc is unlikely to give you anything good anyway. Well... just farm them then and don't worry about the recipe! Well done for being the first person to ever complain about a recipe! |

" The game has not really been designed for people that give up at level 50 to be honest. I'm not saying that you can't having fun before level 50 of course, don't get me wrong, I like rerolling chars when I feel like it and I don't find it boring at all. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

Trust me, vendor recipes are your friends in a sea of bad luck. Those shards add up pretty fast and are a godsend when you can't seem to get orbs to drop.

" Lol most people? Please don't speak for anyone but yourself, especially considering your skewed data that you've taken from this game after one play through of one difficulty. |

" Why is this surprising? Didn't a recent survey or Steam achievement search show that 90% barely finished the first 3rd of a game? IGN : Ericaa
