What do you think of Act 3?
For me, act 3 is entirely too maze-like. Pretty much every area is some kind of maze. Ok, it's to be expected from a city but still, I like open areas + I mainly play summoner which farms stuff for other toons = constant hassle with minions and corners and doorways and shit like that.
Wish there was some ledge-like map of a higher level (City of Sarn=meh, semi smilar). Run straight, brains off, kill stuff, pick lootz = zen. |

I didn't read all the posts and I know this must have been said, but I feel the need to say it. The jump from act 2 to act 3 can be ROUGH AS HELL. I know the game needs to ramp up, but a few things combine to make this transition a little more abrasive than the rest of the game.
GEAR: It seems there is some concensus that gear is hard to come by in act 3. This would only be a minor annoyance if not for... ENEMIES: These guys are real bitches. All of the sudden everything is either exploding, shocking, lightning thorns or shooting 200 titty rounds per second at you. These enemies have multiple skills, massive swarms, or crazy fast attack speeds. and heaven forbid if you run into a yellow mother bug with rapid fire LMP bombs, or an alchemist with extra health or resists, or a... BOSS MOB: Really? Bear trap and a conical physical damage spell. Did you just say, "F___ You evasion builds, mitigate this shit!" You better have good flasks and know when to whip them out in act 3. Now this sounds like bitching... it is... however I have learned to adapt to this act. I enjoy the larger maps as long as they don't become a maze "I'm STILL looking at you Slums!" but it really does seem that ever time I get to act 3 I need a major upgrade to my gear to survive. My hat goes off to the hardcore players, you must grind like frigging crazy to prepare for act 3. Oh and just a note, I avoid that bear trap monkey asshole like the plague. I know he should be easy, but he always finds a way to kill me. I can see your / Back is turned and / If I could I'd / Stick my knife in.

Act 3 since first doing it has been something I've considered a lot. My hardcore templar is now in Act 3 merciless and this thread has popped up at a good time, for me at least.
I'd like to echo the sentiment that Act 3 feels like a rather large step up in difficulty from the previous Acts, Act 3 also in my opinion feels harder than Act 1 in the next difficulty. I personally think this stems from a lack of linear progression, or more specifically a lack of an early/easily accessible farming area. In Acts 1 & 2 we have The Ledge and Fellshrine respectively. Both easy to access and farm. The only solid farming area in Act 3 is The Docks, which are unlocked quite late in the Act and are significantly riskier and more time consuming to farm due to the non-linear nautre of the area. Due to lacking areas that promote smooth transition like the earlier Acts players end up feeling underlevelled or undergeared. Certainly knowledge and practice offset this but I feel like Act 3 can be somewhat disjointing for players doing it for the first time. Overall Act 3 may be my favorite act, despite Sarn Slums dragging on a bit and some minor nitpicks. |

Sarn Slums is RIDICULOUSLY, pointlessly, annoyingly, BIG! Takes longer to find Clarissa+Sewers than it does to get rushed through Act I and II combined... (My friend is fast)
Also, aside from how much I <3 being called "Not-a-Cockroach" (Pet-name, Nessa's got nothing on Gemling ~.^), Act III is kinda boring. I also hate the dark color scheme when you open Vaal Seal near end of Act II, as well as having to find the Tree Roots. Act I, best Act NA. <3 farming Ledge! :P EA IGN: We_Have_Monk_at_Home

I personally like the environment of Act 1 and 2 better.
But the size of Act 3 is great! It amazes me people complain about how a game can be "too big" More content the better. Wish Act 1 and 2 were big as 3! |

" this. sarn slums after redesign is actually more or less straightforward too. I dont like crematorium because its terrible for minions (in lesser part its a first serious resist gearcheck imo) and warehouses are boring as hell in fact I usually go through slums sewers to get to warehouse sewers and use the farther exit which is usually next to marketplace entrance and thus skip as much warehouse area as possible. lunaris lvl 3 was tiring but they compacted it as well. imo all nice changes |
