What shield is better as a necromancer with the necromantic aegis keystone ?
Im a CI necromancer using an animate guardian; wearing festival mask for the 15% dmg buff. my build:

Running 4 Auras: Grace, Determination, Vitality, Discipline with all the +%aura nodes in the tree. Not sure how i can test whats better, using Aegis Aurora my Animate Guardian is unkillable as his energy shield get repelenished all the time (he wears alot of armour). So the question for me is do Zombies and Misscreation(spectre) profit from the Aegis Aurora ES replenish ? can they block ? Any ideas ? IGN: FoxyWhite

If minions can block, I'd still take Aegis Aurora over any other shield since Discipline would make minions so many times harder to kill. A max block build with enough ES can literally stand and do nothing and let enemies kill themselves with your Tempest Shield.
I'd personally go for one of the other unique shields or a good rare with high defenses. All comes down to if minions can block. But either way, Saffell's is useless for them. |

" Magic damage can be drastically reduced through auras and a support gem. Since magical damage can be so easily mitigated, it isn't as much of a problem as hard hitting physical enemies like Kole. Resistances reduce magic damage by the same rate at all times. Armor does less against bigger hits, and more against smaller hits. Therefor, Saffell's is useless, as a single gem or aura can make your minions many times more survivable against spells. |

When im capped with all resistances, arnt my minions too ? at last thats what the tooltip says for zombies under defences.

Saffells would be better because aegis gives ES based on % of armor. So first you gotta be running discipline, easy enough, but how are your zombies going to get "real" armor? They get 400 from aegis and then what 40% or something from Determination? That's still less than 1000 armor. That means on a successful minion block they are only recovering ~40 ES or less.

From my experience, there are not only more physical damage dealers but physical damage seems to do more against my minions than anything else. There's no point in using something to bolster a defense they don't need as much as another. |

Okay thanks for the feedback i learned something new here. So its for sure better to run purity of elements instead of determination as i thought zombies/spectres come with some basic armour valuers when you summon them.
Have to disagree with you tho Natharias, played my summoner alot recently in up to lvl 76 maps and what they die from is spell casters - torture chamber/birdman(not often tho)/the flame guy from the high level map. My minions having no armour makes using Aegis not the better choice over Saffels. So the choice is between some rare shield with high armour/life/res - lion eyes shield and saffels. I will test it out in the next days running purity of elements. IGN: FoxyWhite

" I wouldn't disagree with me. With Purity and Minion Resistances, your minions take just about no damage from elemental sources. Your minions also have low armor and evasion ratings, from what I understand, so blocking is best used for that. Your minions are dying to spell casters due to their very low resistances. |
