LoL has 3.000.000+ concurrent players at peak hours. That game is popular.

xfire is an older chat client used by a certain subset of the gaming population. It is a pretty flawed platform to use to poll a player base. Having said that I'm not surprised by these results, a free to play new game should be high on the list. Most games lose 75% to 90% of their player base in the first month, the important thing is player retention.
