Path of Exile ranked the 5th most played game according to Xfire

For those that don't know, Xfire is a chat client that records which games people are playing and how much time is spent playing them. The stats were just updated for January 24th, and Path of Exile is ranked 5th. This places it ahead of both Diablo III and Guild Wars 2.

GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
That's great that PoE is in the top 10 and 5th no less. I wonder how they get their statistics, 11527 seems low to me. If the server stress test earlier this month was for over 50,000 players and the Singapore gateway is/was maxxed out then is this a very short sample period of time or what?

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

The 11,527 value is the number of hours played by xfire users. Obviously not all players use xfire, but it's good for measuring the relative popularity of different games.

The server stress test was 50k bots, not players.

Xfire only counts the people that have/use xfire, not everyone.

A news post was made an hour or two ago that said ~57,000 users were playing online at the same time yesterday.
Thanks for the info. That makes sense and so based of the other number posted of ~57,000 is looks like the Xfire stat is approximately 1/5th to 1/6th the total PoE players on at a given time. Yes, I know the stress test was with bots but so what? If GGG can hit their servers with 50,000 bots and they don't bork them that's what counts. At least if the numbers have any accuracy then GGG did a good job estimating the total load on OB launch day.
As I stated in a reply to an earlier post I didn't play the OB until Thursday morning EST. US at 5:00 am until I got kicked off becasuse of some server side stability bug later just before 11:00 am so I had no problems at all.
Great job GGG and keep the Acts coming. Thank you.
