Can the witch actully fly?

It could be a skill that functions like a backward Leap Slam...

...instead of damaging the enemies where you land, you could fly/jump/levitate backwards shooting some sort of blast at the enemies near where you flew/jumped/levitated from.

It would be a great retreat.

In some of the videos I have watched archers could shoot enemies on higher planes of the map. Does anyone know if something like the LeapSlam can be used to short cut that distance (as flying seems like it might)?

probably not, its like one other guy said, it would be imbalanced and wouldn't it make getting to other places faster? sure it would be easier but thats not what the game is about right? it would probably encourage more flying than actually fighting monsters, etc.
Definitely looking forward to playing a witch. For some odd reason I have never made a caster in any dungeon crawler. This one just feels right.

She's just floating, it's not like actual flying. Just have her movement speed a bit faster and the "walk" animation would be floating two feet off the ground.
That's what I would suggest for "flying".

Edit: Function is "I'm a bloody flying witch".

I second this. A skill to temporary enchance movement speed while adding a nice visual effect.
even if its just a cosmetic, she floats along rather than walks thing i think this needs adding in 100%.

Actually on the 'flying over things' part, a skill already does that. Leap slam is capable of going up and down the correct sort of cliffs. I could see there being an int based skill that buffs movement for a short while and allows one to move over cliffs.
I tend to be a very opinionated and brief poster. Due to this I often come across more hostile than I really am, sorry bout that. Also my train of thought is odd, something I just forget to post needed information, or assume its already known.
As an active skill for x seconds, float, turn to ghost, so not blocked by enemies, + speed (to get away), elemental damage taken increase, physical taken decreased. able to cross gaps/barriers leap slam can. can't attack! longer than normal cool down.

As a Passive skill, If it's like start floating still in range of melee, high barriers like ledges the hight of the player can be jumped down from/up (places leap slam can get across). and a little more speed. drop to nil armor, drop evasion rating 50%.

Even if it's something at the level 80+ a kind of status indicator. "hey there is a level 80 witch!"
I think the floating animation would be sick.
What @abhor said ...
Sting like a bee and fl..oat like a witch :O :D
