[Nemesis] Avatar of Fire, Shield Charge, and Smoke Mine Oh My!

Had pretty much the exct same idea. My tree also ended up being almost the same. (I'll post my variation when I'm not on mobile).

One difference is I dont plan on scaling physical much since Dyadus does little to begin with.Probably still taking AoF since it's on the way, but replacing Chernobog with Lioneye's Remorse for more block and tankiness. I'll put a Q20 inc burning damage instead of melee physical as it also gives a nice 10% to ignite (putting me at around 93% without the Taming which I don't have the funds for). I also take the 6% block near Mara.

I was planning on LW instead of Smoke Mine but your idea is so much better, thanks for that !

Still leveling ATM, but really looking forward to lvl 69. Will try to put up a video when the build comes together.
I'm proud I made the build that got hotfix nerfed by 80% in under a week :
Kamikaze Clones /1204796 (LL Mirror Arrow Instability Prolif)
Which auras i can use with this build?
I guess Anger is the most obvious choice. Not sure how well it scales, but it should be worth it. I can't think of much else to boost DPS.
For defense, Determination should be good. Tempest Shield could be nice (for the block) if you can afford it.
Maybe Purity if you can't cap resists (which is unlikely).

Edit : currently 65, gear mostly lined up, can't wait for 69. Calculated a theoretical 5.5k hit for shield charge with leveled gems (that's with 0 fire resist which is not outlandish with flammability).

i'd be interested to see a more updated guide of this and some videos. it sounds like it would be fun to play.

thanks!
Thank you! I was looking for a Shield Charge build and this looks great! Will give it a try!

a video would be really nice..

If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

Sadly I can't update this now since I sold/gave away most of my gear awhile ago - been on break waiting for the new league.

-I found that melee physical actually helps more than increased burning since it's calculated before the conversion (and it's important to scale the damage from shield charge the most... not the subsequent burn afterwards). You could probably get away with increased burning though.

-There's a rumor this might be the "build of the week" coming from GGG soon, so you might see a demonstration then.
Hey guys. I like the build.

I've done a slight change of it. I dunno if it's any good or not.

Passive build.
Spoiler

This tries to capitalise on the high axe damage nodes and the shield charge bonus multiplier.

Also, how do you level with a build like this? Just spec throw?

I'm not trying to replace the build, just get an idea for it. feel it out, so to speak. Would this work?
I really liked the concept of the build. Really original. I'd like to do a different style though when the new league starts

- I believe the bounce back and forth is great, so to capitalize on it, I'd like to focus on puncture, which can do great damage as long as the enemy has to chase us.

Considering the blind from smoke mine, I'd like to play dangerously, for sure not nemesis, and therefore make a tree like this

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIBAtAEfgSxBX0FtQX5CC4OSBGWFfAWvxi9GtsbrR6BIQMi6iP2JP0rbzBxMgE4ljpCOlg94kjuSn1LeEuNTGBW6lb1VvpaSGHiYetl8WegcFJwVnRBdK5313iueUh6U311feN_K3_GhxmHdofbiEKNv5AblWaX0JoTmyabjZ2WnaOjiqZ_pzSyGbJEtMW3F7fTuT67fMBRwcXC7Maiz3rTftQj1QDWitfL21XbbtvU3aje9uOE51TndOjW6xTtQe4O7_Dz6vyr_MX-uv8c

A bino's kitchen knife would be nice, but still far from happening to me :-)

Regards and thanks for the nice idea!
So, I'm kinda coming back to this build after a while.

TL;DR : dissapointed at first because clunky / hard to use, but works. Trying to mix in Searing Bond, looks promising.

When I finally got to 69 where this build becomes usable, I was a bit underwhelmed. Not by the damage, it's actually very decent, but more by the clunky mechanics of shield charge - it's quite difficult to aim... Clicking slightly away from a mob, or more problematically having the mob move away while you charge, will leave you standing there in the middle of the pack having done 0 damage. You usually have smoke mine to fall back on, but that does fail too from time to time due to LoS requirement (could be broken by moving slightly out of axis). With ignite chance under 100% you also run the risk of not igniting and killing just 1 mob, but at 90+ that's not too much of a problem. Aiming the charge was by far my biggest issue.

While fairly obvious, it bears mentioning that things don't get any easier in tight quarter / intricate maps like Catacombs, etc (most of the indoor ones really) where getting a good clean line to run on can be a challenge.

It is certainly a tricky build to use, with a fair amount of button presses and precise clicks required (select nice starting position, Drop smoke mine, flammability, aim, charge, detonate mine...rinse and repeat I guess, but easier said than done). It needs a fair amount of training / getting used to / dare I say skill ? Whether or not that's a good thing entirely depends on your approach of the game.
I'm still nowhere near competent enough in its use to make a nice showcase video, but if my tests/training go well I might a bit later. (Build of the Week would be the awesomest thing by the way !)

Anyway the reason I came back to this build is that I was thinking of doing a searing bond build for the new league start, and was thinking of how nice shield charge would be in there as utility (movement, stun, easy end charges with ECoMS, etc). Then I realized how compatible the tree would be with this one - lots a fire and burning ! I'm testing now an added Searing Bond into the Charger mix, and I must say it's a very nice addition. I was initially thinking of dropping it as a remote mine just after charging in (drop smoke - charge - drop searing mine - detonate both, pack is blinded and double burning) but I'm not really convinced yet, totem seems to die too easily that way. Dropping it at the start point away from packs makes it do more reliable damage, I feel. Needs more testing. As it is, in a 3 link that is an added 5k tooltip dps, so really nothing to sneeze at considering I made no concessions to the build as it is. I'm quite confident it can bring even more to the table with a little more work.
