[Nemesis] Avatar of Fire, Shield Charge, and Smoke Mine Oh My!

And now for something completely different... and it works!

So I got tired of the usual specs (reave, spectral throw, CoC, etc) and wanted to try something a little different - Avatar of Fire. Now this passive has been repeatedly tweaked over the years and today it's a bit harder to make useful... but I wanted to make it work so I came up with the following.

+Shield Charge
+Smoke Mine

Place a mine, charge in at full distance (giving you 200% "more" damage on hit), teleport back (fixing any desync issues and making the charge very safe).

Rinse, lather, repeat.

Currently I'm doing a mixture of Piety runs and low level maps (as you'll see, my gear still needs work). Packs die in 1-hit usually (even rares), Spinecrack dies in one hit, Kronk in two. The build works a lot better in groups or with a party (since the mobs will focus on someone else while you run in/out) but is completely manageable solo.

Some great points about the build:

-Most bosses are an absolute joke with a "bro" skeleton+blind totem and you charging in and teleporting back.
-Corrputing Blood does nothing to you, since most die in 2-3 hits total.
-Elemental Reflect does nothing to you. The majority of the damage is from the burning effect.. and not entirely sure why, this could be bug, but I can even spam infernal blow on uniques and take almost zero damage..
-It's a lot of fun and very cheap to build!

Here's the build:

Taming is just a real nice to have, just got mine! The rest are all extremely easy and cheap to obtain.

Still leveling my quality Chance to Ignite, but I'll move it over once it's higher %.

Key points:
Spoiler
-It's important to get Resolute Technique since Shield Charge can now be evaded (from a recent patch). Running and setting up the charge, the last thing you want is for it to miss.
-Until you get a Dyadus, these gloves add a sizable amount of damage with Avatar of Fire (12.5% physical to be precise since you get half of the 25%). It does lower your Infernal Blow dps but your main stay is actually the burning effect from the charge. I wore these until level 60 because the damage bonus was so nice!
-You'll notice I have Arctic Breath on Cast on Damage Taken. Since I can't chill since I can't do any cold damage, the chilled ground effect actually helps quite a bit with slowing mobs down when you're getting hit. It also slows them from moving if I teleported out and am coming in for another hit.
-I might move away from Dyadus at some point... although I'm not sure I can beat the dps from any other 1-hander. I'm not chilling so part of the effectiveness is gone but getting so large damage is going to be very hard for a physical weapon (remember, DPS means nothing.. it's max damage)

Looking for feedback, thoughts, or just let me know things you want to see added to this. The build is a ton of fun and real easy to put together.

Enjoy!

Awesome! wanted to do that since avatar of fire came out. didnt thought of dydadus though with a 6 linked it may can be replaced with a high dmg mace.
it nice to see something different than the usual stuff. good on you for finding something creative that works for you.

Would love to see a video of this...
I'll make a video of a piety run later tonight assuming I can grab the time.

Replacing Dyadus is gonna be pretty hard - the ignite chance is extremely important because charging and not igniting sucks. It's also pure fire, whereas I lose a lot of physical damage from avatar of fire (25%).
Hi !

Thank you for this I was looking for that kind of stuff. Always wanted to play a fire templar as if I was an Hox of Age of conan =).

Nevertheless, I was wondering how did you spend your passive points from level 1 to 30 for instance ? What are the key nodes to have ?

Thank you very much for your help and advices

i hope we will get videos and stuff
Ive been leveling with this, im lvl 39 atm and i do like no burning dmg, and it takes so many hit to even ignite. my gem has 31$ chance to ignite atm + the 11% from my curse. The build also has 0 life regen or mana regen, so im having srs problems with that aswell, how do you run 2 auras without life regen and mana?
Just waiting around.
Hi.

First Shield Charge build that I see. Need a video soon guy, it could be funny.

PS : Why not Increased Burning Damage instead of Melee Physical Damage/chance to ignite?

PS2 : MultiStrike (or melee splash for packs) with your Skeleton could be good -> more hit = more chance to blind.
