Any ARPG's out there similar to PoE?
If you don't mind an older series, Dungeon Siege 1 + LoA expansion and Dungeon Siege 2. Really good as a single play through experience. I replay through every couple years. :)

I played Borderlands 1 a little bit, never bought Borderlands 2 (It was apparent from the start that it was intended to be a pump-out DLC gimmick).
What killed BL1 for me: Trying too hard to be an RPG without finding the right mechanics to blend the genre with a FPS. My sniper couldn't shoot dick because his "accuracy" stat was too low, and sent the projectile a mile away from the scope's crosshairs. FPS are by definition a skill based game, and the RPG portion competed with that. While playing it I thought "this would be much more fun if it played like Jagged Alliance" so I returned it, got Half Life 2 instead, and loaded up JA2 :D Both are infinitely better games IMO. You should try marvel heroes. The game sucked on release, but now it is actually good. Its also free and is done by one of the creators of original diablo and diablo 2.

Speaking of Jagged Alliance 2 - what is the best way to play it nowdays? Best mod/release or whatever - like the big mod for Baldurs Gate or drog black tooth patch for Arcanum?
Be ready. You're not paranoid, you're PREPARED.
I quit this game every few months and so should you to continue playing it in the future. The device is believed to have been dropped |

" If you're not going to stay on topic, then please leave and stop commenting. I don't even know who you are. But I find it fucking hilarious that you think so wrong of me just because I voiced my opinions on how to make this game better? So it can succeed? Oh wait let me just stay quiet and be a nice little fanboy and agree with everything that GGG does and be a nice little member of the community! It's free to play, I am not allowed to have an opinion according to ^ this guy. I'm so stupid! Man! Yeah ok seriously, either stay on topic or I'll ask a mod to clean it up. To everyone else who posted: I'm thinking about Titan Quest, but is it on steam? How do I go about purchasing it? Also I've tried marvel heroes, it seems cool but my PC can't handle it I don't think. Oh also I've played dungeon siege. Loved it :D Speaking of baldurs gate though, damn that game was fun. |

" I don't know. When the mood strikes me I just load it up on an old PC from disk (almost bought it on GoG last time because I had a hell of a time finding said disk). I've never modded games besides Civ 3, but then I didn't even play the mod; my attention span is too short :) So, I guess my answer would be: by playing JA2 :P A lot of good oldies are worth simply replaying on their own, imo, given a few years intermission to keep it fresh. THis isn't anything like PoE, in fact it's extremely different, but I have to mention it.
Dark Souls. It's an amazing game imo, the one thing you don't want to do is look up a walkthrough. To me it was extremely innovative with the way the systems worked and PvP in that game is exceptional. A couple things to note though: The PC port is terribly unoptimized, fixes are mandatory, controller strongly recommended. Uses GFWL (never gave me much of a problem other than set up and the updates being annoying, but lots of other people can't even start the game up with it) If you can get it on the console instead I'd strongly recommend that you do, but it is only a couple bucks right now and I only took an hour or two to set everything up and play the game. It plays flawlessly for me, but be cautious about getting this on PC. If you do get it just make sure you're not trying to go through the graveyard at the beginning, we've all made that mistake before. You can pick Titan Quest up on steam cheap enough.
Be warned the steam version has problems generating multiplayer foyer lists (if you want MP) and requires a fix from the TQ:IT defiler program. I would suggest looking for a copy of Titan Quest Gold in your local games shops.A disc copy is superior to own in many ways, even for a game that is no longer developed. Dark Souls got a mention earlier in thread and both the wife and I concur that it's a great game if you like reflex, hand eye based challenge to go along with your theory crafted builds. In Dark Souls you die and you die a lot until you get a handle on the games intricacies. The number one killer in Dark Souls however is Gravity, even the best DS players die to gravity. lol It's PvP is great if you can buddy your way into the good/right crowd.Outside of that and particularly on the PC,PvP is mostly a cheese fest of lowbie killing and a hack/bug fest or a test of skill by using the invicibility frames of rolling and trolling for backstabs (which DS 2 boasts to have reworked). I agree Dungeon Siege 1&2 could provide you with quite some hours of fun if you have not already played them.Dungeon Siege 1 in particular is absolutely brutal in it's final difficulty and puts POE to shame on that front.DS1 has a huge MP map that can be used akin to singleplayer and I highly recommend playing that map after a quick play of the singleplayer campaign.
