Do damage over time nodes affect burning/ignite damage?

I'm curious if damage over time nodes like entropy that just say "x% increased damage over time" affect burning/ignite damage?

yes
Standard Forever
Increase DoT just stack to the % increased burning damage or it INCREASE the whole inc. burning damage?

Ima a flameblaster, I just re craft my wand from 40% Inc. Spell Damage to 28% Inc. DoT damage and I think (not sure) that it doesn't stack to the existing % inc. burning but increase the whole % inc. burning by 28%. 'Got the feeling my clear speed is better.. Need confirmation!!!

If ya know let's everyone knows! thx

Anyhow to clear things up, all increased modifiers only apply once and at the same time when doing damage calculations.

For ignite it is:

Initial hit * 0.2 * (1.0 + fire_damage% + damage_over_time% + burning_damage%)

So no, damage over time won't increase existing burning damage by a 28%, it is just as effective as a 28% increased burning damage in the tree/items, but less effective than 28% fire damage since that would have scaled the initial hit also making it double dip.

"but less effective than 28% fire damage" So a 40% increased spell damage would be better on the wand right? Considering DoT damage

Burn Damage does not benefit from Spell Damage (both Spell and Damage over Time are Base Damage types, which are mutually exclusive). Whether going from 28% Inc DoT to 40% Spell is better or not, involves a fair bit of calculating... You'd have to run down every Damage multiplier you have to see which of the two is stronger. Probably go for 40% Spell Damage?
Spell damage != fire damage

Spell damage only increases the initial hit while fire damage will increase both the hit and the ignite.

If you really want us to tell you what is better you need to give us your:
spell damage
fire damage
damage over time
burning damage

stats without the wand equiped.
Then we could tell you what option is actually better burn wise.

Anyway the change from 40% ISP to 28% DoT to the wand gave me more clear speed, I'm 75% sure :P

For a Flameblast build I can say you better to craft the DoT than the Spell dmg!

you should make the calculation before stating that.

Stacks. "Increasing increases" is more modifier, but there is no place to stick it like that. Quite sure that if you pick "elemental damage" node it will stack with other modifiers like DoT or inc burning damage. (It will also increase initial Flame damage, so in terms of burning it will double-dip).

I'd answer OP's question with another question. Is burning doing damage over time?
Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.
