You guys know rampant RMT abuse comes from a shit economy, right?

Empirically speaking, you are wrong

The games that have more issues with RNG are always that are as I described above. Another really good example actually is WoW, where there was an RMT service to level characters to max level when all the expansions started getting released. Then Blizzard drastically increased the ability to gain exp on lower levels (directly or indirectly, i.e. quests) to the point where you could get to max level in a week, and it suddenly shut down most of those RMT sites

Have a look at what nGio said as another example. Of course there are the RO servers.

You are dead wrong about this, thats all there is left to say

WoW is a bad example there.
I played WoW myself for a three years. The only thing, that keeps it interesting in endgame PvE, is the releases of new content every few months. With every new tier of raids implemented, even BiS gear from old tier instantly turns to mediocre, and other gear turns to shit (with few exceptions). And when an expansion is released, even shitty magic items from new content will be better than BiS gear from previous expansion. So, same actually starts over and over again (just like temporary leagues in PoE), but also with totally changed content and (usually) drastically changed gameplay. That's why drop rates are so high - players should be able to get BiS gear before new content is released.
PoE just CANT update ALL endgame content every few month! That's why progression rate in PoE is slower. Otherwise, game will get you bored very quickly, and you quit anyway. Both too slow and too fast progressions are bad. And RMT is actually too fast progression, usually. It is boring.

Economy is complete shit. GGG should focus on fixing trading/economy/crafting before anything else. It is a bigger deterrent than desync and IMO a much bigger problem. The op is spot on with his point...people RMT because if you have a life outside of the game to make it to a competitive level you either have to neglect your family n friends or get lucky.

Crafting in poe is gambling where the house always wins.
Trading in poe is like working a part time job that pays you sweat shop wages.
Spending a few chaos even an exalt on a map worth 5 exalt plain and getting nothing makes you want to club baby seals

All of that headache is avoided when someone rmt's

The man raises a good point!

Does anyone have ANY evidence that RMT is that rampant in Poe?

I have no Idea about standard since I don't play that, but I seriously doubt anyone playing nemesis that wasn't the son of a millionaire could spend the money needed for some of the numbers thrown around here about people buying 500 exalted orbs....

Actually you forgot one part, fusings are destructive, that is, they can make your item worse. People would be much more likely to use fusings on an item if it didn't actually make the item worse

Probably because there is empirical evidence to support this, as has been stated earlier.

Stating something isn't evidence. An opinion isn't evidence, either.

Post the actual evidence.

("When D2 had many loopholes discovered, their playerbase increased." isn't evidence. That's like saying, "I was drinking two bottles of whiskey when the sun was shining, and this is evidence that sunlight makes you drunk.")

PoE is a really fun game but the drop rates are crap, you just can't get upgrades by playing the game so you must trade. When you acquire items by trading (rmt or in game) it takes away from the enjoyment of playing the game, so people leave.

Just to add, game lost about 10 000 players from 25.11. on steam.

Doesn't surprise me, all the major problems of this game seem to never get worked on. Desync, horrible mapping system, balance issues, bad drop rates, horrible trading system.

I find myself saying after ever patch: The issues that matter the most are being ignored. To be quite honest, we're probably not going to see anything significant until that big patch in March.

Good game until level 80, then all the problems and short comings of the game really start rearing its ugly head. I wouldn't be surprised if the drop off in players is the new crop of players just hitting 80'ish and finding this out that the game has a terrible progression wall system that pretty much stifled the D3 playerbase shortly after release.

You do realize that this game existed before steam, and will continue to exist and thrive without it, right?

Steam players are fickle as hell. Also, your stats could simply indicate that people just stopped using the platform, and used the pure client instead.
