Why get blood magic?

Wouldn't that just make you die WAY faster considering you are expending so much life? Is there something I'm missing here?

This is actually a very popular build, it is definitely viable with enough life and regeneration, and you will no longer have to carry those mana flasks :)

Yes.
Life steal, Life regeneration, Life per hit. Once you get the gear to support it you can spam skills quite a bit and replenish your life pretty well. Sound the dread alarm, through the primal body! Sound the reveille, to be or not to be. Rise! Stay the grand finale! Stay the reading of our swan song and epilogue. One drive to stay alive! Elementary, muster every fiber. Mobilize! Stay alive!

Would blood magic work for like dual totem templar builds or witches that spam spells? Can spells life leech? Can totem life leech for you? |

It can be a beast with a lot of life regen. You regenerate more life in a second than your skills cost, so it just slows the regen instead of costing anything really. I had a marauder built like that, whenever I lost a big chunk of health I'd us sweep with life on hit and get a big heal, potions to speed it up and I almost never died... only got to lvl 40 something though so idk how he would have worked out end game. basically you just need lots of life and ways of getting it back. Its nice for low intel classes that dont have access to a lot of mana stuff

Blood Magic is probably my favorite skill. No more worrying about mana and mana regen, load up on life potions... and whack away! fun fun

When you can focus all of your resources on regenerating a single resource instead of two, it allows you to stack a lot more into that singular resource. Everything you take serves a double purpose.
