New league starter builds?

Spoiler
It seems the forums want me to discuss something else. Thread title was auto populated with "Crafting vs Gambling - (I hope) a friendly discussion"

Odd. Gonna have to disappoint the forum software

I was looking at Wishinan's Top 5 Tier One Builds thread and it got me curious about something.

When a new league starts everyone begins at square one with no stored currency or items. There are those, however, who very quickly are able to build and outfit characters that apprach the status of those tier one builds that require a healthy selection of rare uniques. I'm curious about what kinds of builds people use to get such a strong early foothold in a new league.

I'm hoping that people can (and will) recommend builds here that serve such a purpose. What would you all think are the top 5 builds for starting out in a new league. Ideally such builds would be able to function successfully solo and not need any rare uniques.

Any thoughts?

I like the Scion start and using spectral throw with a big ol' two-hander.
Lets resurrect this discussion for the new league coming up.

I am thinking of using a scion spectral throw for first build. I would like to know from build gurus though if there is a guide out there that can really assist.

Other than the scion I am also thinking a ranger but I am really not sure what character in the hardcore league will give the best start to collect and farm items and currency. Community please help.
These are the ones I like best.

- 2H Spectral Throw
- Bow (first rain of arrows then into lightning arrow
- 2H Ground slam / leap slam
- Freezing pulse
- EK

There are also some other ones which require you to transition which is something I don't like. For example summoner. Great with no gear but you need to use other skills in normal because summons do no damage early on.
Summoners can get through normal on raging spirits now I expect.

I'm thinking about running a blood magic incinerator to start the new leagues. Have to see what the marauder tree looks like first though.
A rangers) I was wondering if iron grip max str rangers are good for hc characters? they will have many points in str so lot of hp and damage

or should i just make maruder with bows and iron grip? what should i do weapon wise etc.?

is iron grip max str bow OK or not?

B maruders)
1. so i was wondering about EK/FP full str iron will build but the question is

is iron will good? how much it will buff my damage late game or should i just go templar

2. Iron grip full str bow maruder? the same question as iron will will full str bow maruder feel ok DPS wise? what should he use etc. i have no idea coz that is only an idea

3. can maruder dual wield wands?

C summoner builds)
anything that can be built cheap from nothing for HC?

any tips?

1. if built properly, IW can add a sizeable chunk of damage. on my iron will caster i have 661str, which is equal to 132% increased spell damage, which is great.

3. everyone can dual wield wands

c)
summoner doesn't really require starting equip. Getting along the way a few 1c uniques like sidhebreath or bones of ulrs, and a +2minion helm (or the new minion helm but i don't know it's cost) would be certainly beneficial and cost efficient.

afterwards you can go into more expensive items like tabula, chobber, montegrul's and etc for snapshotting, or heavy IIR items like advarius, elixir, etc but those aren't required and are more or less icing on the cake.
thanks man i was more or less needed that statement but will this IW STR based caster achive good enough dps?

about summoners will IW buff summons? can you say more about summoner builds like a guide or main focus? i might consider summoner for sake of my friends who played poe even less than me so i could tank some monsters

Very easily.

Melee splash as soon as possible.

My plan is to do an Iron Grip, dual-wielding, duelist spectral thrower with max endurance charges. I've got a build planned out. Using hatred and lava lash will mean I can still do some damage even if my weapons aren't that great. Using dual-wielding passives rather than weapon-specific passives will let me use a variety of weapons, though I worry about my accuracy rating as I'm going to have a lot more str than dex.
