Sticking with PoE or just waiting for Diablo 3?

There's really no reason you can't devote time to both games.

I'm just gonna buy Diablo 3, Torchlight 2 and possibly Grim Dawn. Path of Exile doesn't really have to compete with these games considering it's free, so there's really no investment to prevent anybody from simply trying it out. As for whether or not the game sees commercial success, well that depends entirely on how they prepare the cash shop. I think it's safe to say that it won't compete with Diablo (definitely) or Torchlight (maybe) in terms of commercial success though. It's gonna end up being dead on arrival if they make the cash shop too demanding and/or pay to win though.

I will likely play Diablo3 out of respect for Diablo2. However I think il lean more towards PoE. Alot of aspects for PoE arnt original, however the means in which they are implementing them are unique.

A flat out comparison based on my third person view for both games is that PoE has better aspects than D3 however it wont manage to catch up to blizzards quality. Namely balancing and graphics. However the gameplay mechanics seem better mainly because Blizzard has toned all their games and decided not to make unique features.

Edit: They also have stressed the desire to not have a pay-to-win cashshop. $$ wise will be blizzard due to the name and playerbase,etc,etc. Game success should be PoE.

I'll have to wait until I get into the beta or the game gets released to make a decision. D3 is a Day1 buy based on what I've played in the beta, and I'll be putting some serious time into it. Whether or not time gets split between it and the scary amount of other ARPGs that are due out this year (This, Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn, Borderlands 2) is yet to be determined.

Ill be getting both games for sure. Leaning more towards PoE. But ill be getting diablo just because its diablo.

I will play D3 I was stupid enough to sign up for the 12month pass, impulses FTL!

But I see PoE as a game that I will devote most of my time in.

so you don't think you'll continue with WOW ?
I never played WOW, but if I did I think that would be a great deal, especially considering they're continuing to update it (yeah, pandas, but I think its cool anyway)

both D3 and TL2 are supposed to have some announcements late next week, so hopefully some good news

and of course still waiting on Grim Dawn

Wow was good near the start, however it is now a horrid mess. Blizzard needs diablo3 to be on par with WoW to keep themselves stable. I am interested in the collectors edition dyes though.
