suck it
You should totally add an option to activate/deactivate it. So no one will QQ about it.
Just imo, anything that affects gameplay should be set in stone.

Well, I personally don't believe in having too many options enabled for the player. For example, having to have to press and hold down alt to highlight items, this should be set in stone universally. Players shouldn't be given the choice to highlight items automatically without pressing down alt, because this would ruin the aesthetic of the game. Also the additional option would give some players an edge over others during free-for-all grabs. I do realize there might be flexibility that is lost though if this was set in place (such as having to have to hold down alt all the time). But still, that flexibility would probably be an overall negative influence.

For the health icon: ehm, not too sure about...it's either yes or no, no options for me. So i'm going to vote no once again because it would simplify things too drastically. You could argue it would give people the chance to be able to calc damage but they'd be able to do that anyway if they looked it up. It would also ruin the unknown factor when going into a confrontation with a certain mob. If #'s were laid out before you, you'd know instantly what to expect and this would ruin things. Once, again having an option enabled would help with flexibility and aid users who want that kind of help, so in the end maybe flexibility would still be a good idea.

For MMORPG's, health stats showing up seem to be ok because it's hard enough to have to deal with a certain mob let alone make his health points an unknown since it takes so long to kill it.

Just seems that in past endeavors, these things were all unnecessary and frivolous.

Are these ideas a little stupid (maybe my ideas are the ones that are broken or a bit unrealistic) :/?

Actually it's not really needed, as some sentenced most of npcs dies so fast that ppl dont even look at life bars. Maybe will be interesting to add it as an option but in my opinion is not needed.
Off/on in options should be enough.
I like the idea of having it in as an option however maybe it should only show when you've killed a monster like it before.

Another option would be to show the monster levels.

One last idea is to have some monsters that don't show any numbers or stats (resistances, etc.) - these could be a special "breed" that obfuscate the information (so only showing the health bar)...perhaps info can then be "siphoned" from the bigger boys in some way or they could be revealed as you fight them (hit it fire - BLAM it's immune to fire and then updates the stat)?
Although I see its potential to clutter the UI and options, I would like to be able to see actual moster hitpoint number becuase for me, its a better gauge to see how effective you truly are on things such as bosses which count the most. To explain, in games without numbers, when you hit a monster, you see a red or whatever color bar go down but atleast my eyes aren't trained to really have a good guess what percentage that is unless its like quarters or more. The thing about numbers is its a more solid and easily distingused way to get a handle on the exact damage your attacks and skills do. This is useful for comparing whether or not your off on what is listed as your damage/dps and is handy for comparing different weapons and skill types. Also, some get satisfaction when they know they killed a monster with a million hit points but things like that are obscured when you just see a bar moving slightly as you wail on said epic boss. This is just my opinion of course and from what I tried on the public weekend, the game would be great whether its bars or numbers to go with them.
Fights are usually over too soon to have any time to do any kind of math in your head as to your DPS vs mobs HP, especially when you're working with big numbers with 2 decimal points!
I think it would add too much clutter to the UI, but I could be wrong.
During the open weekend I ran into a crab aura monster that had energy shield and HP regen for itself and its cronies, it was super hard to put down! Would have been interesting to see some numbers then, but overall, not so useful.
And now just to confuse everyone; HP numbers should fit pretty neatly into a mobs HP bar anyway...
i voted "yes"

but i can see how some players would like to hide the numbers

though i have a twist on being able to see the hp:

i want the players to not know the actual hp total until after killing so many of that monster type, and it would update info into a monster journal, say after 100 kills you get to know their total hp, after 200 kills to know their armor, after 300 their resistances would be revealed, etc for special abilities, weaknesses, other info.
Options are nice :)
