Voice Chat
Would it be possible to get some sort of voice chat going on? It should of course be default disabled in the options just so the less technologically literate wont have to struggle with the interface anymore then they already have managed, but it would be a huge boost to player interaction, and in a game where the most likely deaths are going to be instantaneous, stopping to type to someone every couple of seconds is not very convenient. It also sucks having to shuffle through all of the different third party voip programs people use.
This alone is one of the reasons console gaming is so successful, everyone can just turn the game on and talk to each other as they please. There would of course have to be a very easy way to mute people, and a party chat would be great in addition to an instance one. I know Steam has a voice chat, but I prefer not to have steam open when the game does not require it to be. Also it is not game integrated and you have to go through the process of actually using Steam to use it. It would be amazing to be able to easily communicate with others, and would greatly encourage group play. Last edited by Decimationist#0605 on Dec 3, 2013, 6:22:59 PM

I see great Desynch in your future...
Voice chat = more bandwidth usage = more potential for desynch due to a lag spike. Just imagine a group of trolls spamming voice chat in Hardcore to get a player killed as a joke. This WOULD happen haha. Last edited by gump132#4874 on Dec 3, 2013, 6:39:14 PM

" Well after playing this game for about a year I have become adept at avoiding desynch, and rarely see it, especially when playing in a party with good clear speed. You are right about trolls in hardcore, but I don't think there is a way to actually "spam" voice chat. It would just be on. |

" I actually addressed the problem of having to use 3rd party voip's in the thread that you seem to have failed to either read completely or comprehend in the slightest. Please include a "tl;dr" next time before disregarding a point I originally made. :D |

" So voice chat from all players with an enabled microphone would always be transmitting? That would be annoying. Shouldn't it be a push to talk or at least voice activated? The problem with this is the sudden jump in bandwidth usage which can cause little hiccups/lag spikes that could lead to desynch. I would always have it disabled with all players muted just to avoid the potential desynch. |

" You basically complained that alt + tab is so hard to do. |

" Well yes, it would hopefully have a very nice level of customization as far as the usability settings are concerned. I do not doubt many would take your stance on having it perma muted while playing as well. It would just be so much easier to be able to talk to people who join parties or instances, and would be very funny in cutthroat events. I for one am tired though of everyone hiding behind the anonymity of text on the internet, and that may be a partial motivation to why I would love to see this implemented. In addition to this I believe it would very much encourage player to player interaction and a much more cohesive community. As far as bandwidth is concerned, many people, very hardcore players included, use 3rd party voip's, and do not seem to see it as a problem as far as desynch is concerned. Those programs use the same bandwidth that this game uses, and even include an entire program being open that uses that much more of your system's power. So if there was one connected to the game it would most likely be the same fundamental concept, with less system use, AND less bandwidth use. Edit: Also desynch is VERY avoidable. There are several methods you have to incorporate into your gameplay, but if you have an understanding of what causes it, you can definitely negate it very much. " No. I complained that having to use a different one for every person, or having every person use a different one is annoying and unnecessary. This has absolutely nothing to do with alt+tab. I am actually wondering if you have anything constructive to add to this conversation? |

Please no, it does nothing but add lag to any game I have played that had it built in.
There are so many fantastic and free options out there for people to use voice together it makes no sense to spend resources adding it into the client. stop over moderating that makes the official forums useless
