Storm Call Faster Casting Breakpoints

If your familiar with D2 faster casting breakpoints, you'll understand the use of this table.

Gaining faster casting does not actually do anything until you reach the next breakpoint, so I thought i'd share my data on reddit/forums. If you want to help out by testing out missing data, whisper @GreenDude

Skill feels weaker than shock nova. I think they should buff the crit at least.

Shock Nova has a dead-zone in the center where it deals no damage. Thus increasing its AoE increases the dead-zone and vice versa.

It's hard and at times annoying to use shock nova so the damage increase makes sense to compensate.

wait do values of faster casting above 49 have no effect? or are just untested

he says "testing as soon as gems level." So, they are probably just untested.

EDIT: Additionally, isn't it possible to figure it out a priori since GGG doesn't have some arbitrary framerate thing dictating breakpoints? I dunno

It adds 1 cast per second for every 50% increased cast speed.

So 50% would give you 3 casts per second or 4 casts before it explodes,
100% would give you 4 casts per second or 6 before it explodes,
150% would give you 5 casts per second or 7 before it explodes,
200% would give you 6 casts per second or 8 before it explodes,
250% would give you 7 casts per second or 10 casts before it explodes,
300% would give you 8 casts per second or 12 casts before it explodes.

Simple forumula 1.5 / (1/casts per second)

I don't get it. Experimenters say that 44% ICS is enough to give you 6 casts before it explodes. Who am I to trust?

The difference comes from the fact that there's time between explosions (50-ish milliseconds), which means if you get another cast in before all previous ones have exploded, it gets added to the explosions.
50% would be

1 - 0 seconds
2 - .33 seconds
3 - .66 seconds
4 - 1 second
5 - 1.33 seconds
boom
6 - 1.66 seconds and repeat at 1

100% would be
1- 0 seconds
2 - .25 seconds
3 - .5 seconds
4 - .75 seconds
5 - 1 second
6 - 1.25 seconds
7 - 1.5 seconds and boom

it is .5 / 1 + increased cast speed

that would give you interval between casts.

This is grade school level stuff guys.

So @ 100%, charge 7 is simultaneous with explosion. It then acts as time 0 for the next cast cycle. It follows you'd only get 6 casts for each following cycle.
