I do agree with OP to a degree. I've played PoE on and off for a while, and i always get bored after my current toon gets into the 80s and there isnt any challenge besides maps randoming challenging properties. I would like for end-game to have something more progression-based and challenging, personally.

In other words you guys want GGG to make a new lvl cap and a new Act 4 whenever you feel you hit the wall?

Go play a game where you can progress forever and ever with 1 char and let GGG do whatever they feel like.

You are the typical poster in this thread. Talking about something he doesnt know anything about. What? lvl 33 nemesis character? You dont even know how maps work. There are multiples of you all in this thread, with lvl 30s, 50s, 60s, trying to tell others to suck it up, and you havent even experienced what its like to obtain a decent map pool yet.

Great. You like the game. So do I. That doesnt mean I like every single thing about the game, and that doesnt mean you have to stand up for every little slight someone says about the game.

Wrong. I have done maps. A lot.

This thread is still plain stupid.

I don't think you've written a single intelligent post in this thread, stop derailing the thread with childish comments just because you don't agree with them. If you happen to not agree with someone's opinion, kindly give a reason or explanation as to why or gtfo and quit posting like a drool bucket.
I really can't find it in me to go and put another map in the lab after investing chisels and 6+ chaos with half a bar of experience as the only thing to show for it. This isn't fun, nor is there any challenge to it other than garnering the currency required. The map system is very obviously broken when you can outgear level 77 maps before you even reach 73's.

I know i was doing good and progreassing in maps till patch 1.02 hit and i sinked all my maps and currency with no return. Path of alts again for me.
lvl87 nemesis here .. drop of maps@maps is just horrible, especially on high lvl ones where you get for example 2 66 maps? always back and forth .. spent exalts and exalts to buy new ones and after a day i run out of maps again .. then back to low ones .. there is no point to play further for me
Mirror of Kalandra?
OK, read through most of it, here's my experience so far (note: the reason for posting this is because I still didn't finish this cigarette I rolled for myself, and there is still some whisky left, I'm not hoping for the following post to have any effect on the actual game itself, I'm not even hoping that someone from the people who actually can change things in this game will read it):

General gameplay, skills, classes, etc:
It's good, true it's far from perfect, but for a newly released game from an unknown developer its good. We have plenty of options, we have the ability to make almost any class/build combo a viable option, we have items that are build enablers. So, globally we can say its good, requires some polishing, but there are games that are 10 years old and still require some polishing, so what the fuck.

Technical issues:
Bad, very bad, very very bad! For one reason, and one reason alone: desync. Sorry, but from my point of view, and from my almost 20 years of gaming experience I can not understand how the hell is this game affected by desync this much. It simply defies any explanation, especially for a game developed and released in the year 2013. I'm even willing to conclude that desync is intentionally left in the game. For fucks sake, if nothing else, give us a quick fix by coding in a script that will automatically run /oos every 3 seconds or something.

Leveling issues:
Think what you want, but there are serious leveling issues present in the game. We start at level 1, and end up on a healthy level 30-35 during a normal playtrough, then we jump to cruel and finish it by level 55-65, depending on how much we want to grind, after that its tricky. I finished merciless at around level 73. Now, much time later I somehow managed to hit 84, the last 7-8 levels mostly by running 70+ maps, and most of those maps I only did because I paid an entry fee, since maintaining high level map pools is a hard thing (more on drops below). While I certainly do agree that max level should require a decent amount of time invested, I also think that the curve should be tuned in to allow people to get a bit faster to level 90-95, only the last 5-10 should be reserved for the totally hardcore players, thus require a lot more xp compared to the levels below.

Drop & crafting issues:
This is the most tricky part to describe. RNG aside, some things in the game should be more rewarding in relation to time spent to get hold of them. While it is ok that some uniques should be very rare, some others, especially build enabling uniques should be a lot more commong, its common sense since at the moment for certain builds the rule is "have unique X or don't play the build". Crafting has some enormous currency sinks aswell, especially when you want many off color sockets, or you're trying to craft a rare item to fill a gap. Like I said, there should be a guaranteed reward for the appropriate time invested. Some people would gamble for socket colors, number of sockets or links on their gear, other people would farm up currency and use the "1000 Chromatic/Fusing/Jeweler's" orbs to have a guaranteed result. The end result is the same, realistically it does not matter if you have to farm 2 weeks and buy your stuff from someone or farm 2 weeks and make the stuff you want. Except when you make your own stuff you will have less of a feeling that you're wasting your time, you will have a feeling of success because you made something yourself. The same logic applies to crafting rares with orbs. Compared to the average amount of orbs any character drops in a week, crafting simply isn't a viable option for the average player. There are simply to many affixes possible on any piece of gear you want to try to craft, so in order to succeed you either need to have a virtually endless supply of orbs (the option reserved for basically the 0,5-1% of the population) or you need to buy your desired item from someone else(provided that such an item is available at all, for example search poe.xyz.is for 240+ DPS wands, on domination there are only 3 available, one of which is not for sale). I've posted an idea regarding crafting here, but like this post, that one will probably never be read by anyone who can actually change stuff. Inherently its the same flaw D3 has at the moment, you simply have to grind and grind with no end (be it item grinding or orb grinding+crafting) with hope something will come out the way you want it, or something worth selling will come around so you can buy what you want (unlike d2 where relatively good stuff was relatively easy to get, grinding for endless hours was needed only if you really want to min-max every possible detail, or you wanted that 98->99 jump).

EDIT: Map drops at maps can be fixed relatively easily by introducing two simple changes to the map drops:
1. A map can only drop a map of its own level or higher
2. If there were no other map drops so far, the last monster left in the map has a 50% chance to drop a map of the same level

Very nice detailed post above me, hopefully GGG is reading this thread and taking the feedback here seriously.
I've never really done much with the end game in PoE. Been playing since OB started, and honestly, I think I've run 10 maps total, and they've all been since release. I just don't bother with them, never did. I ussually end up massing a store of good gear, and by the time I get to mapping, I start another character. I'm already contemplating my storm caller, since I got a badass dagger/shield with massive spell crit on it.
