Haha, yes.
While I agree with you that mazes are cool on their own besides the enormous benefit they provide, this change helps a lot with beating back the cost of rolling higher maps. So just relax.

I'd like to see them add maze back in with a small iiq bonus and no difference in the actual size though, because I like mazes. But I'm not getting all bent out of shape about it.

I like it. Maps will be a little more random, since you don't have to keep rerolling it until you get maze.

I don't think you understand. Mazes ARE random. This gives the player more variety.

They need to balance maps so that maps that spawn with maze don't give any quantity bonus due to the maze mod, nor are they any larger than non-maze maps - but the maze mod should still exist even as a purely cosmetic/fun reason.

Removing it is nearly as bad as removing one of the characters. How would you like it if the Marauder or Witch were removed from the game?

How about you wait for the patch to see what its like before you begin crying? For all you know the maze effect is on every map thats its possible on by default now without wasting currency rolling it (Not to mention allowing another prefix for higher quantity bonus....).

Complaining for the sake of complaining. Love the internet!!!!111!

Maze was kind of a pointless stat because every map that could be mazed was going to be rolled by people so that it had maze. In fact, without maze many maps are just complete trash. This makes having a maze on a map like Shipyard a must-have, I guess GGG doesn't want to force people to have to roll maze on maps in order to get good returns.

We have yet to see if the new map sizes are good, but I'm glad I don't have to waste countless chaos trying to roll a good mazed map.

From South Africa. Player since closed beta

I dont think you understand.

All maps are random configurations. All high end maps are rolled to huge/maze unless your trying to handicap yourself.

Now you have larger maps by default, so not only do you not waste large amounts of currency getting a specific mandatory mod, you also get more map variety as one of the prefixes has been freed up to use for something else like inhabitation affix, monster life etc.

Overall its a good change, maps are going to be better at all levels with less currency required to roll them. you can take the first good quantity roll instead of having to keep chaos'ing until you get a good quantity roll that includes maze/huge.
While I appreciate them making Maze/Larger area a non-mandatory mod, this simply creates a new problem.

Horde will be pretty much mandatory now instead. Perhaps monster density will be addressed in the future hopefully.

I think they are planning to make it a maze by default on every map. Don't quote me on that.

Casually casual.

You are right, but 3 78s from non-mazed ship and yeah, it was tiny in comparison to a mazed ship.
