Maze map mod being removed?
I read earlier today on an RSS feed (I think from gggtracker) where one of the devs mentioned they were removing the Maze mod on maps in the 1.0.2 patch.
So that's it? No more maze maps? If this is true, which I hope it's not, then this will mean less randomization in PoE. Randomization is a good thing, especially with areas, so removing the maze mod is a dreadful idea. Player since closed beta 2012. Full system specs: https://pastebin.com/c4rvbvSR

I think they are planning to make it a maze by default on every map. Don't quote me on that.

With no patchnotes up yet we cant know for sure but as far as i can tell they will make the maps larger by default and therefore remove the possibility to roll maze on it. To me this is a really good change as some maps is retardedly small and without maze pretty much useless. with this change we can focus to roll the maps a little bit differently.

They're getting rid of both map size and maze mods, but in return are making all maps larger by default. From the pictures they showed it looked like they're gonna be about ~50% larger.

Yeah, larger maps are cool. But NOT at the expense of losing the maze mod.

I like it. Maps will be a little more random, since you don't have to keep rerolling it until you get maze.

i think its the right decision. it was just a enourmous waste of currency. now you can do all maps that have the right balance between quantity and butthurt. no mandatory affix

" I don't think you understand. Mazes ARE random. This gives the player more variety. They need to balance maps so that maps that spawn with maze don't give any quantity bonus due to the maze mod, nor are they any larger than non-maze maps - but the maze mod should still exist even as a purely cosmetic/fun reason. Removing it is nearly as bad as removing one of the characters. How would you like it if the Marauder or Witch were removed from the game? Player since closed beta 2012.
