Totems making this game too easy?
I've been playing for about 2 weeks now, but from what I've noticed there's a trend of people building around totems and summoning. They basically just summon a totem and curse a group of mobs while casting a few spells here and there without ever really taking any risk. This allows them to easily clear a room without ever actually going in the room.
Just feels a bit unbalanced in my opinion when someone that is sword and board has to run in there and take all the hits taking risks. It would make sense to me if totems were somehow connected to the person casting them rather than being their own thing. Like they can only attack things that you share LOS with and when they die you lose a portion of your HP/ES. I am not QQing btw, this is just an observation and it is bothering me a bit. |

who the f*** needs balancing in a Action RPG?
no class need a nerf only a buff.... and anyway everyone can build a totem whats ur problem? if u dont want to play with a totem u dont have to cry oO biggest hate in a game is allways changing things buff/nerf politics like WoW or other mmorpgs. nobody need that in a Action RPG. btw pvp is for fun in this game, not for league. Try the build before whinging about it. Totems require line of sight to be cast. I suppose you are going to cry about rangers clearing a room by firing from the doorway or just outside too?

YEa.. i agree.
I was thinking about making thread about totems but you are faster OP. :) But my problem is not that totems are OP (they are but ok) but other 'remote skills' support gems... traps and remote mines are wortheless and very bad designed. Maybe totems need a nerf.. whatever but traps and mines definitely need a buff. Big one. joneslty totems are problem atm beause they are too strong and they damage build veriety in PoE (same situation like Diamond Flasks... they are just too godly to pass and dont use). Also..

PvP is never just for fun. That is just your personal opinion. All game mechanics should be properly balanced.
But, yes. Try playing a totem build before saying it's no risk. "That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.."

" Proper balance creates more build diversity, which is good for everyone. I get what you're saying though, some companies get nerf-happy but I don't think GGG has that philosophy. I recall an interview where the topic was how overpowered lightning damage seems to be, and Chris's response wasn't that he wanted to nerf anything, but that he would rather buff cold and (especially) fire damage. |

I found a totem-gem about 2-3 gameplay-hours ago and it made my life a lot easier (additional to Zombies and casting spells). Tried a few variants and found firestorm-totem most useful. I could just sit there and watch the burning battleground if it wasn't too boring. So yes, I think that this skill is very powerful, but it's also fun to play with. (and I've seen videos where a totem freezes half of the map... :)) Dynamit,

Just release the game as is lol. " Totems require a line of sight for a second then you can run back. Rangers have to stand there and be shot, so it's different. I actually play a ranger bow build and haven't played any melee classes yet. Low morale? Don't even get how that applies here, and obviously you play softcore.
