Theorycrafting Flicker Strike Cast on Crit Discharge
|
Hi,
i was inspired by the Spectral Throw Cast on Crit Discharge Build, and wanted to try something similar. But instead of using 2H weapons and Spectral Throw, I wanted to use a dagger to a naturally higher crit chance and flicker strike, cause of the insane dps and cause quality Flicker provides us with additional crit chance. So the idea was to using a 5L ES Chest, cause 6L is too damn expensive. The colours would be gg/r/bb. The links: Flicker Strike, Cast on Crit, Multistrike (cause why not?), Discharge, Increased crit Damage. We would use 2 kinds of charges. power and frenzy. Frenzy Charge we would get through Blood Rage, so we are going CI. Power Charges through Lighting Strike with this setup: Lightning Strike, Multistrike, LMP, Power Charge on Crit. Single Target Dps-Skill: whatever you want, Double Strike or Frenzy. (Not so important at this moment). Here is the build that I am thinking of, it is focused to support mostly defence and Flicker Strike, cause we need to kill with it, to get frenzy charges. |

Not gonna work, because discharge consumes your charges. If you can find a way of consistently regaining charges then yes.

Also, the main power from cocs builds is the spell cast, so you'd want increase crit strikes instead of crit damage (or power charge on crit).
Or, you can blood magic the spell with life leech somewhere and use a volls or something. Or Tabula |

Ok, point taken. Thx for the advice.
So I've been thinking, is there another nice spell that would benefit from teleported perma crit Flicker Strike that would in the same time support the flickering? My idea was to use then Ice Nova for freezing or Shock Nova for shocking (obviously :D). It doesn't consume the charges and support the Flicker Theme, frozen enemies doesn't harm you, and shocked just die, cuase, well, they just die :D How is that? |

I heard arctic breath is decent with cocs, perhaps also try cold snap.

" Voll's Protector, Voll's Devotion, Blood Rage, PCoC... Do you even discharge? Many lewt. Much desync. Such rewarding. Wow. According to forum mods "sandwich" is considered an offensive word. Who knew? Last edited by Robert_Paulson#5467 on Nov 23, 2013, 9:24:14 AM

Yeah, I do use discharge. All of those generate one charge at a time when using single-target flicker strike, or less. And you do NOT want to discharge away your frenzy charges that you need to keep up the flickering, in any case.
Sure, I think it'd work with one of the nova skills. Might not be really fantastic damage, but it should work. I'd use a 20q melee splash to increase procs as well as increase AoE, but then I can afford such things; even without buying a 20q, I'd still use it just for the increased procs (and because flickermulti is barely viable without splash anyway, flicker stand-alone doesn't have a chance). ey buddy I'm doing CI/vaal pact flicker cast on crit discharge because its a legendary build not inspired by anything. It's not something poor people can pull off but it works. Starting class is scion. I'm still missing a few items for it though such as 2 doedre's elixirs and the virtuosity gloves. When you do land a discharge with flicker in a big mob all charges reset because of crit chance so its possible for endless discharging. If you notice your frenzy charges getting low pop a flask for more charges.
Skill Tree around level 90. I don't know if vaal pact is absolutely necessary. Current gear

I tried this build. Two major limiting factors: accuracy and randomness. you need the accuracy to make sure each of your fkickers land. But even if they do, coc is still random. It was not a reliable number ofcoc procs to be completely viable. Melee splash doesn't help, you either roll crit on all targets, or on none.
My recommendation is to try it with EK instead, you won't lose power charges so your crit stays high. Just don't ever expect the build to be reliable. |
