how to solve the RMT SPAM epidemic, simple solution

I know this may be harder than it actually sounds, (i'm not a programmer so idk).

But here are a couple fairly simple solution.

1. make sharing website information (in game) for the purpose of trading real life moneh, scamming, self gain or anything along those lines a reportable offense If this is not a rule already. (this may already be implemented) But also make make it an immediatly bannable offense if the person is a legit RMT Bot.

2. Add censorship to the game, censor any sentence with "www.", ".com", ".org", etc with "#######" and immediately "self report" the user for review, (for obvious reason make a report limit for this offense only to 3-5 as to not allow bots to overwhelm the system).

3. Disallow the use of trade chat until the game has been beaten on cruel difficulty (most of the gear found at these early levels by new players is crap anyway, with the exception of a few uniques).

4. with censorship sensor "WTS" or "wtb" in global chat. However, do not make this a self reportable issue. If the offense is repeated frequently and continually, this is considered spam and can be reported already.( this is not for RMT sites, this is for new players who will try to use global for trading)

what do u guys think? I'm not a programmer so idk how hard it would be to add a censor system. But i used to play a game that censored websites, so i know this can be done.

1. I can imagine that this platform will be misused for naming and shaming if possible and this is not allowed in the current ToU.

2. There are already filter in place, I think. It is up to GGG how much they can refine them without cutting communications of legit players.

3. There is a currency trade barrier implemented already. You are not able to trade currency until your reach level 25. This approach was taken to not cut too much into gameplay of new legit players.

4. Can't say much about the efficiency of that. If a RMT spammer is dumb enough to spam to full globals, he will be reported immediately. Most spammers use whisper as there is no report function for whispering yet.

I think these suggestions are all terrible personally. Thankfully I'm confident they will never be implemented.

GGG can only attempt to fight the symptoms, not the epidemic itself.

the game - at it's core - is one of the most RMT-friendly and bot-friendly games around.
I have more than a few posts dating back to Beta, explaining why.

i love your feedback. I agree with you that this would be missued for naming and shaming, i think it should be limited to weeding out RMT bots.

I also didn't know there is a filter implemented already, can u give me a link to an explanation of how it works, i'm quite curious. As for the trade embargo, i think this is doing more harm than good. It should be lowered to around 15, or taken out, but that's just my opinion

as for my 4th suggestion, This rule is mostly for new players who will want to flood global because they can't access trade

Doesn't work at all, used an addon in WoW that allowed you to block and auto report posts contain selected words from a list you compile...the work round it by formatting the website address...which the first RMT whisper i had did...like this one
