This post goes both to OP and the quote.

There was this really good article that basically debunks all of these "violence and sex" in video games influence propoganda thats coming out. Long story short, psychologically the brain treats sex and violence in this media forms as fantasy, not reality, because in almost all situations the violence and sex in video games look nothing like it does in real life, and the brain recognizes this difference.

In the article, for the guy to prove his point, he showed an actual video of a person doing suicide (it was that famous of the US politician killing himself with a gun, I forgot his name), and that is what was mortifying and horrific, and it wasn't a video game, it was live footage of an actual event, and the brain depicted, and saw that as real, which is why the article drew a lot of severe comments about how they could post that

Thats not to say that there are some kids that are effected by these things, but they are in an extreme minority
