When diablo 3 RoS comes out, PoE will die and the future will repeat itself
if steam values are anything to go by PoE probably has more active players than D3 at this point.
blizz did more or less admit (with the gold duping/AH hacking) that only a tiny fraction of the 6 million buyers are still playing the game. Logging on and finding there is a total of 150 (!) people across all inferno acts in public games kinda supports that too. also blizzard are removing trading entirely in RS effectively. - no more AH - exponentially better drops tailored to class - account bound crafting. Combine that with the absolute lack of almost anything resembling multiplayer activities (at least D2 had leveling/trade games) and its going to be a very solitary playtime. If they really make trading fully optional, kill the AH, make the game about finding loot (without the need to invest 40 hours a week!) ....
Well im very happy to play it. Right now POE and D3 are trading simulations - the one game that manages to get a game about slaying monsters for loot will be the game i play. I like the fluid combat of D3 I like the skilltree and the skill system of poe Both are lacking a rewarding gameplay now :-( |

I dont see how an ARPG without PvP can survive
Serious post for once To me, an RPG that tries to keep players playing solely by the "kill monsters for better gear to kill more monsters" loop will not last as long as a full RPG like TheElderScrolls or DragonAge/MassEffect. Arpgs are horrendous for telling a story. The different style of combat in arpgs vs RPG is nice too, but its wasted killing dumb AI The vast majority of players who still play D2 are all pvpers who hang around d2jsp. The PvE of d2 is only a gateway to the real game of pvp. PvE in d2 was at best mediocre. I've beaten act 3 countless time but the last time I actually did act 3 without skipping to travinical is literally since d2lod was released The only things the arpg genre had going for it is pvp and neither d3 or POE looks like they can be easily balanced for it. What a shame, because PvP is where smaller game studios can compete with the big shot companies the easiest since throwing money and devs at PvP dosent produce good returns like game length and graphics quality Riot rode the PvP money train, and its gone from nothing to one of the most influential game devs globally. They were the catalyst to push the US to recognize pro gamers as real athletes I wish GGG could do the same, but its unlikely with the current state of PoE Last edited by xXx_EliteHardcorePro_xXx#0045 on Nov 21, 2013, 4:26:32 AM

" Trading/auctionhouse ruined D3 for me, PoE has trading, but it's not as bad. I wish they would drop trading completely from PoE, and make crafting (gambling) better instead. Edit: Some guy said PvP is a must, thats's ridicolous, never done PvP and never will. Played pretty much every arpg game there is. Went D1 -> D2 -> D3 -> PoE. Natural progression... " Just and FYI, you can't miss in D3. So even if the monster is on the other side of the screen you will hit as long as you were in range when you executed tha attack. “Demons run when a good man goes to war"
