Map Editor

The suggestion is to add a downloadable map editor further down the line as well as an NPC that will give players access to custom maps.

If the map editor is solid enough and gives enough freedom talented players could design fantastic maps, especially for PvP (look at DOTA for instance)

This would add a TON of endgame playability, especially if the maps can be customized to have a type of PvP/PvM objective (a player could make a 6v6 pvp capture point map or a 'survive the zombie horde, reinforce the barricades')

There are some VERY talented map designers out there, and if you give them the ability to express their talent they will ensure the game lasts for a very long time, which is of course a very good thing.

best f*cking idea ive ever heard, if this was implemented the re playability of this game would be years, i still find myself playin warcraft 3 and that came out in 03. issue with this is its a f2p game so it would be hard to fund custom game servers ect.. but it would be amazing to see such a large skill tree in a moba game(dota).
The biggest problem with this would probably be quality assurance. Since there aren't custom servers, someone would have to check fan-made material to ensure it's bug-free, fair, and that it fits into the lore of the game.

Then the map would have to be added in a patch so it would be available to players. With the amount of maps people would be making, the patches would start taking up a lot of space.

think of it this way. Each server would have its own map, such as the default map style the game was intended, and other servers can have modded versions that could be made with the "map editor". you can customize the scripts and the map itself and choose the size of the map. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joNPrnY4K_4) this video is blizzard unavailing their map editor and a small portion of what can be done. my vision for the game from a non beta perspective is dedicated servers such as css, tf2, cod4, ect.. those lists look like this (http://www.hardwareheaven.com/articles/Source/server%20list.jpg) have your custom map in your own server if people want to play they can join.

tldr: custom servers such as valve games, and map editor such as blizzard rts games.

and it wouldnt need to patch because you would download the maps from the servers and they would store the info on your computer

There are no announced plans to allow custom servers. Adding that in would substantially change the game and how it's played.

thats the point -__- change isnt always a bad thing as i stated change has increasted the longevity of wc3 its still played after 8 years almost solely from custom games. a whole new genera of game come out of it, the moba(Multiplayer Online Battle Arena). and i know they havent announced custom servers i said its my dream for the game. and look into battle.net 2.0 its a whole section in there game dedicated to user-made games.
I already suggest something like that but
implementing an "editor" or something smilar to it is really hard work

Still this guys here looks like love hard work.
I will quit smoking and dota if i get a key.
I have plenty of time(8++) to play.
I also offer slavery.

You have to look at both sides of the coin. Even though I know for a fact that there is a great modding community out there, it may not be the best idea having a map editor. I'd be happier with the Devs to continue make the game for us instead of digging through dozens of bad maps to find one decent one. I hope you get my point; having to search through maps can be really frustrating, even though it can work greatly as well (example Neverwinter Nights)
I don't see a problem in this. Essentially it is adding features to the game that won't affect the core. For example having separate servers with maps created by the player base can increase the re-playability of the game and opens doors to possibly creating great adventure maps.
