CB vs OB vs Release

You are just better and you think the game is too easy. Just like i do, but for new players, i can see it is hard.

I don't remember much about CB (only got to merciless) but I feel the game is more gear check than before. On the other side, I have better gear and better knowledge to somewhat balance it and stay ahead.

Rambling part on difficulty and balance:

I think one the difficulty balance problem is how endurance charges works.

Power charge and frenzy charges gives offensive bonus while endurance charges give defensive bonus.

Let's say the game was once balanced around having no charges.

Top build stacks power/frenzy charges --> they do too much damage for GGG taste --> GGG introduce reflect --> they have to be careful or they kill themselves --> people that have less offense are "punished" less.

Top build stacks endurance charges --> they don't die enough for GGG taste --> GGG makes monster hit harder --> people that have less defense are "punished" more.

If you have too much offense, GGG counters you specifically with reflect.
If you have too much defense, GGG counters you specifically with nothing (harder monsters affects everybody).

Summary: I feel somewhere CB, somebody made a build too defensive. Instead of nerfing the build, they buffed the difficulty. With a tougher difficulty, people started building more defensively, so they buffed the difficulty again. And the cycle continues.

I can only guess, but i would guess this. From what I know of CB (my brother played poe in CB, saw some, and from what I've read), there was also less content. Maybe gaining exp was simply harder, because of the content and the skills/gear.

The game was scaled lower level wise. As other posters have said, it only went to lvl 58 on areas. Of course reaching higher levels was more difficult because of that. Really, the exploiting thing is a little moot since people basically did act 1 and act 2 minus vaal 4 times in a row, then ran chaos which was just lvl 58 random areas you ran till the end, then they repeated. I think after 10 or so.

So you hit an exp penalty or slow-down far faster than you do now.
game was made easier, I realize full well that I am bad at this game but even I can tell that hailrake was nerfed to nonlevels of difficulty on normal. Nonsense that the first levels should be easy to keep players in the game.
