3 things PoE should have from other ARPG
Name the 3 things you think should be cool if GGG implanted them in PoE
My list. 1. This one will probably never make it but I really liked it in Titan Quest. Monsters only drop gear they currently have equipped (except for certain bosses) In Titan Quest if a monster had a unique item you could see them wear it. Also a archer wouldn't drop a sword and a sword fighter wouldn't drop an axe. See screenshot: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Tritone/tq/min_demeter.jpg and this topic for more info: http://www.titanquest.net/tq-forum/threads/10210-Post-screenshots-of-monsters-wielding-uniques! Edit: should also say. Yes mobs could become harder to beat because they item effects applied to them. 2. The shrines from Titan Quest. The one that gave +25% xp or xx more dmg. I loved those (you could say they are already in game with Domination, but I want them in every league and a little bit more rare and with more mods xd) 3. The goblins from D3. I hate D3, but charging those goblins was real fun! Well this is my top 3 wish-list :) Now I want to read yours! http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/913599 <--- mirror Thread Last edited by PaladinSMD#6827 on Nov 19, 2013, 4:04:56 AM

1. An area/mini map that wasn't from 1996 that looked horrible and eye-straining then and still does now. I'd kill for the maps used in Titan Quest, hell... I'd settle for the clear and easy to see maps of Torchlight/Diablo 3.
2. Artifacts from Titan Quest. 3. The Diablo 2 Waypoint menu. The map overview is nice, but once you know which area leads where I prefer the quick and simple list from D2. Those little dots are just... Annoying to click on. |

Titan quest was admittedly ahead of its time int he technical department I thin, buggy yes, but it still looks great today if you install it. That being said:
1. NO DESYNC: This should be 1-3 on my list admittedly. Diablo 2, Diablo 3, Torchlight 1, Torchlight 2, and Titan Quest, this issue was hardly ever seen. I don't ever even remembering seeing the word desync until playing this game...launched in 2013? Really? GGG can babble on about how their systems are so complex that desync is a good thing and has to exist. Well in my opinion its piss poor design to write a check your hardware, netcoders, and programmers can't cash for you and in turn forces a shitty experience onto the players. Maybe explain why when you know desync exists, you keep introducing skills that further exacerbate the problem and cause it to be front and center (cyclone anyone!?!?). 2. ANIMATION and ART: Don't get me wrong I love the setting, the mood, the ambiance of this game. Its raw, its dark, and it is cruel. Its the spiritual successor to diablo 2's mood and feeling playing it. That being said the character animations need a total rework. I know this is a small team, but the animations are incredibly stiff. Because of this the combat doesn't have the feel of "weight" to it other games like D2/D3/TL1/TL2/TQ. I would love to see GGG do character model and animation redo's like they are currently doing in SMITE. In Addition while I love he art style, there needs to be WAY more variety in gear. So much of the armor/weapons look the same. Granted I am not saying every character should be running around looking like a power ranger with shoulderpads like WoW but, would a little more variety hurt? I mean D3 even D3 had some badass looking armor sets, which brings me to my next point. 3. SETS: Yeah this might be a bane for some people because some will feel pigeon holed into getting only sets, but I would love to see them in game. I know the open source style of designing a character can make designing sets difficult, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be attempted. Maybe make sets 4 pieces (visible worn armor only (chest, gloves, feet, helm) while allowing the rest of the item slots available to tailor a character if the set items aren't 100% ideal for the character design. Anyway I expect to be flamed for this one lol. Shame I probably had most people on my side after the first 2 lol. |

" D3 desync was so bad that you couldnt see any monsters until you logged out , which took 10 seconds .. hardcore was so much fun . didnt happen often though |

1. Tactical support mobs from Torchlight 2
Seriously every mob we face in PoE is the same, they just charge at you and try to zerg you. There are no utility enemies. The new bubble guys with that extremely simple utility shine as the peak of tactical enemy. That is really sad for PoE. 2. /players X I hate the party play in PoE. I cant even see what the fuck I am attacking at. Skill animations cover the screen. I just shift-spam AoE in the general direction along with everyone else. 3. Difficulty based on player-skill check, not max life check D2 assasin was the most fun I ever had in any ARPG. |

1. Mercs because i really miss my act 2 holy freeze mercs from D2. If they were given Inventory slots that make them scale like they did in D2 it would be balanced and awesome.
2. Customization for the UI so i can move the debuff/buff icons and minimap into a better location and alter there size/shape. I play Dota 2 a lot so im used to having debuffs directly below my focus, I also use that setup in MMO's, I'm never going to get into the habbit of checking corner of the screen and it keeps causing me deaths from bleed, shock and other things. 3. More stat information onscreen like how much resistance i have over the cap, 75% (104) fire resistances lets me know i can safely remove an item that has <29% fire resistance and replace it with a resistance i'm lacking or other stats i need. Breakdown of other stats would be nice too similar to what Diablo 3 does. When i look at a 1k armor with 0 life and a 400 armor with 50 life i have no idea which is better and how my armor and life % passive nodes make a difference. Yeah i can work it out manually but when there's 200 items per minute filtering through trade chat or identifying 200 items per hour while farming its not ideal. Also agree with Smart mobs. Make them reactive GGG, If a pack of mobs are hit with an AoE skill have a trigger that makes them spread out, if there's no AoE have them group up and overwhelm. Make mobs detect choke points and doorways, make them avoid following players alone if there are other friendly enemies close by to prevent luring mobs 1 at a time especially with mobs that have reflect and other offensive passives. They should be programmed to stay near as many other units as possible and towards the rear of the pack if possible. All of those triggers exist in Total war games so its possible, Infantry won't run blindly into choke points, they spread out when being attacked with ranged AoE. Ranged units always keep maximum distance from other units. |
