Is a Bringer of rain nerf coming?
" He's absolutely right and there's nothing more to your post other than 'If they nerf X I will quit', I think they did learn something from all the whining they got. They learned that parts of the player base is unable to adjust and whines about things that aren't even neccessary nerfs (aura changes for example). That being said, I don't see a BoR nerf incoming. It's a perfect example of how a unque should be balanced. |

" Its not about nerf "per se" but about destroying ppl hard work and time that comes with investing into char and items. Let me have my fun after I spent days trying to get MY perfect build. Working hard to get my items for it and lvls. No one is against nerf where is needed but nerfs that destroy item and/or builds just like that. That cant be tolerated like nothing happened imo. Dont release shit in first place or at least mitigate nerf in some way. I can understand for some ppl no matter what ggg does they are ok with it and thats fine its your opinion but let us who dont always agree with what ggg does have also right to voice our opinion. Im sure some ppl dont care about ppl leaving game and are telling them to leave themselves but at same time its ggg thats at loss and remaining players as well. Ignoring players, making highly unpopular decisions etc. used to be Blizzards attitude and if ggg goes that way good luck to them and remaining few players. I and ppl who leave wont be at lost but ggg thats losing players/business. Last edited by Sidad#4699 on Nov 17, 2013, 5:01:09 PM

Why would it be nerfed? It's not anywhere close to BiS.

After spending like everything I had on one? Yeah I might actually quit at that point. That unique has been around for a while, why would it get nerfed now right after release?

I think it's a great unique and perfectly balanced.
It's popularity I believe is more due to the fact that equivalent pieces are simply too random. Bringer of Rain, especially in combination with facebreakers, provide a very solid and guaranteed to exist baseline to build on top of. With those two items you're removing RNG from four slots. You don't need to worry about weapons, gloves, helmets or chests until very late-game again. Certainly, it puts a much heavier burden for resists on your other gear pieces but at the same time that gives yet another certainty in that you know you'll have trouble in those areas and thus can easily compensate in the passive tree. When trying to make a likewise build with rares you're vastly more at the mercy of RNG and which affixes happen to be present on the items you find or buy ( yes, even when buying. You don't always find the exact right stats you need at a price you can afford ). There's a lot more uncertainty on where you'll leave holes, where your passives can best help your chosen gear etc. If you want to fix BoR's popularity then the solution is in reviewing the affix pool so rares become a tad more dependable ( a tad does not mean guaranteed to be awesome BiS. It mean a tad, a little bit, buffing less desirable affixes a bit and perhaps increasing the chances of generally considered must-have affixes a bit. Just a little. Just a tad ). Personally, I've played for over 8 months. In this time, I've never found a Kaom's Heart, Lioneye's Glare, Voltaxic Rift, Shavronne's Wrappings, Soul Taker (despite using over 800 chance orbs just on the Siege Axes), Aegis Aurora, Eternal Orb, or Mirror of Kalandra. The uniques are NOT easy for everyone to get ahold of nor the currency to purchase one.
So,...naturally...I could care less if they nerf them. In fact, I hope they do. I'm tired of so many people buying currency from 3rd party vendors just to stack up the value of uniques even more out of reach for people who try to use in-game mechanics to "farm" and save items/currency for some sort of dream purchase. The only thing I really gave it my all for was the Soul Taker, and now it's nerfed to the point where finding a higher DPS axe while using Blood Magic is the better option. Still, it's demoralizing every time I see all these people running around with these uniques and perfectly rolled rares just facerolling the toughest opponents when all I've ever found was garbage. Thank you RNG...you've been my bane in every game I've ever cared about for the past 15 years...but you've made me stronger from it. Bottom line: Complain all you want, but things can still work if you want to put the effort into it. Stop relying on your gear to pull you through, and BUILD. Diamond Supporters add a fun element, but don't let them pave the road AND drive your car for you. Try new things, fail, learn, correct, and try again! :) |

" why would it get nerfed? Just cause someone opens a thread about it? The item seems balanced (not having used it yet myself) so there is no reason to nerf it. Anyway GGG would have nerfed them at the release patch if they wanted to. CODT has been introduced with release and therefore needed to be released inbetween seasons. I think this should be logical and understandable for anyone. | |
" It was recently buffed, so we need to nerf it to get back to the balance it was before. Or do you think it was unbalanced before the CwDT nerf that buffed tBoR? This message was delivered by GGG defence force. Last edited by mazul#2568 on Nov 17, 2013, 9:18:07 PM

It is far too cost effective but more importantly, far too commonly used.
First, I am not advocating its nerf I am only going to explain GGG's possible reason for possibly wanting to nerf it. Pretend BoR was a chest piece with SEVEN links, 3 of which are preselected with . This chest has all the amazing listed stats, armor, eva, life, block, endurance charges. Now, the only drawback is that you cant use a helm. Who would not consider a 7 link armor overpowered as hell considering it costs a measly 4 exalts prior to the price hikes. The alternative is an overpriced 6 link armor that will not have as much life or special affixes but you can still use a helm. This helm is strong, in fact, ridiculous strong for the cost but still not overpowered. The reason it may be nerfed is because too many people are using it for their builds, I honestly believe this is the design pattern behind these recent nerfs. Purity was not overpowered, it was just overused in too many builds. CODT was ridiculous overpowered in addition to being used in too many builds yet both got nerfed. Following this idea these items and skills will be nerfed down the road: spectral throw -- too powerful with now 600-700 dps 2 handers and fotm status Aegis aurora -- too powerful for the cost and allows for immortal tanks power charge scaling -- ggg doesnt like it when you instant gib even rare packs if you land a crit BoR - reasons mentioned above purity of 'x' - max resistances +4 can not be enhanced with alpha's and passives - GGG has shown a complete disgust for anything that gives players more EHP vs elemental gimp bosses , i hope they realize parties can now get +8 to all max resists with a dedicated aura build Following the backlash of the recent nerfs GGG will likely not nerf for probably another 2 patches when the playerbase has had a chance to mellow out. I wholehearted believe a balanced gaming experience is ideal for the longevity of the game. I do not believe nerfs should be done on items and skill solely because they are over used and not really because their overpowered. An item or skill should be both to warrant a nerf. Additionally, nerfing core items and auras that have been out since start of OB is rude. IGN: Arlianth

" short answer. Yes. The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG
