Anyone else hate the Imperial Gardens?
Avian Retches are pretty nasty things.
But mostly it depends on the build. A generic Reave/Multistrike build tends to do okay as everything rushes at you and few things (only the archer statues IIRC) snipe. My main problem is that while the groups look huge they're actually few in number so maintaining flask charges is tricky since you're using so many but killing few things. There's a really nasty unique mob that throws Ice Spears. I generally avoid him. The dudes who explode with spines aren't a problem if you're well tanked, it's only for glass cannons that the spine spam will really hurt. |

I think a good related question might be "what sorts of builds would ENJOY or FARM the Imperial Guardens?"
I cant think of any. The zone is not fun the way the Ledge or Docks are fun. It's the maze of walls and small chambers that I really hate, mnore than the mob designs. I just get through it as fast as possible and never go back - ever. This is a good test for a zone design - is there anyone who will farm it? I cant imagine any build or class that would farm Imperial Gardens or The HedgeMaze. |

" I agree with this. The mobs tend to be overtuned in Act 3, especially on Cruel. And Dominus was enjoyable on Normal but way overtuned on Cruel. He's like a major spike/wall on the progress curve because Merciless Act 1 is almost like a walk through the park compared to Act 3 Cruel and its final boss. Act 1 seems to be the best overall. Good pacing, variety and length. Act 2 is a giant, branched fetch quest that feels rather hollow for some reason. Not terrible, but it could be better. Act 3 has far too many annoying mobs and too many areas. Some of those areas are also huge and complex, to the point where it's often a chore going through them. The Warehouses, Solaris, Lunaris, the Imperial Gardens and the Scepter of God come to mind. But Act 3 generally just drags on for too long and these factors aren't really helping. For the mobs, the worst in my opinion are: - Perpetus - Caliga Imperatrix - Marceus the Defaced (too much life and high damage) - Statues and their variants (even though I LOVE the concept and design) - Titty Bitches in groups (I keep forgetting their actual names! xP) - Undying Alchemists - Undying Grapplers (Imagine Discharge coupled with Fractured) - Avian Retches for being spastic *beep*ers on crack and dealing a sizable amount of damage - Devourers. At least the Magic, Rare and Unique variants because the Normal ones on their own aren't that bad. As for the Imperial Gardens, they're huge, it's a maze in there, you get a billion dead ends and you have to deal with Statues, Avian Retches and Porcupine Goliaths that cast a Spike Nova on death. And let's not forget the random Devourer that can be thrown into the mix, just for that extra "screw you!". =P |

It's actually my favorite zone visually.

Don´t know who designed these Devourer Wurms, they can instant kill you if you stand still for just a second and they pop out of the ground, on top of that you cannot see Auras they have...I think the developers had a contest "who can design a mob who kills the most players and is most annoying!" nicemobs™

" They are no longer limited to garden or forest. They are everywhere now muhahahhaahahaha... But yes I do agree they are annoying especially the super elite with extra life + regen + leech which is a DPS-check. I do like the garden (and library). It really tell you if your build works or not before even bother go fight Dom. At least I don't get lag desync to death like in Dom's tower. |
