Can't stop using skills.

Recently, (within the last few days)

I've been playing a lot of PoE, and more and more frequently, I'm running into an issue where when I use a skill, my character continues to follow the cursor, using that skill again and again, cooldowns and mana permitting. When it can't use the skill, it just moves to that location, without any further clicking involved.

For example, if I use cyclone, it will continue to use cyclone until I am out of mana, and then use it whenever I have enough mana to cast it.

I've tried the game on both fullscreen and borderless window. Neither have alleviated the problem for more than one cast.

Technically, since I'm currently playing a lifesteal-centric shadow, the game is still playable just with cyclone. But you can probably guess that I don't want to use it all the time, every time.

Right now I'm about to finish Sceptre of God on my second character, so I don't want to rush into the Dominus fight if I know I'm probably going to end up forced to use cyclone until one of us dies. Granted, its not hardcore, so theres not a whole lot at stake, but I don't want to keep dying.
Try resetting your mouse bindings and re-adding the skills.
I've tried all that. I've tried binding movement to left click, and everything similar. If I do that, it just moves to the cursor and will not stop.
re-install mouse drivers?

I'm not sure if I'm fully understanding correctly, but it sounds like it thinks your mouse button is being held down.
Its not just the mouse button, though, I have cyclone bound to a the keyboard. Thats what I thought at first, too.

In addition, and this should have probably gone into the original post, I lose the ability to target enemies. I can still damage them, and technically still hit them with all my skills, as long as I time and position the mouse correctly, but cannot target any mob directly.

I'm not sure I understand then.

Can you click NPCs to open vendors/dialogs?

If you hover your mouse over top of a mob, do you get their name/health bar and do they highlight?

If so, then the game is properly recognizing the location of your mouse. Then you use a skill, and it should happen at the location on your mouse.

Try getting a targeted ability that will place an item or effect in the game world, and check if it registers it properly at the mouse location. I would use a Totem or something. See if you use a totem ability (both on mouse buttons as well as keyboard skills) and see if it drops the totem exactly where your mouse cursor is.
I can click vendors, stash, etc just fine. Its when I leave town, and then fight a few mobs, it will all of a sudden happen.

No, I cannot mouse over and see health bars of mobs, nor their names, nor are they highlighted.

However, I CAN click, and pick up items outside of town, but after I do it just continues to follow the mouse and use skills.
So what happens if you cast a totem?

Does it cast where your mouse location is, or in a different place from where your mouse is? Also does it continue to keep casting it, or does it just cast it once for each click/keypress?
I don't actually have a totem skill, but it seems like everything is fine up until I use cyclone.

I tested out Frost Wall, and I can place it wherever, but as soon as I use cyclone, the problem occurs, and if I use any other ability, it will either use the new ability, or cyclone again. I tried using puncture and frenzy, and when I used puncture, it used the ability once, then went back to spinning cyclone. I tried frenzy, and it kept using frenzy for about 10 times, then back to cyclone.

Since you can't interrupt cyclone, I can't tell whether or not there's an issue with the mouse because I can't cast Frost Wall to see if the mouse placement is correct. (While the problem is happening, and I'm stuck in a perma-cyclone.)

It really sounds like the game and your mouse aren't working well together.

As I said.. I'd re-install (or update) your Mouse drivers and see if it makes any difference. That's the only thing I can think of at this point.
