So is the word 'cock' permissible in a character name or not?

" Opinions are shit. Your naming is obviously provocative and Support does a great and good job in annoying you for that despite them getting hold back by bad past reasoning. There is a difference between a thematic appearance of male genitalia in game art which does blend with the environment and a chat name which jumps the eye. The posting/naming policies should not be influenced by the games stylistic devices. Else we could all talk about our hobbies of neighborly homicide in here. I think this is the lesson we learned here. Thank you, teacher. Last edited by Nightmare90#4217 on Nov 6, 2013, 9:12:16 PM

" "We can remove or change character names or this policy for any reason at any time." That either GGG make a decisive stance on this or they don't. I would say I am not impressed with this lack of internal communication here. GGG folded very easily to complaints about uniques recently too. I already emailed them about this, informing that I feel if they give in so abruptly to complaints that they lose integrity. Now I'm not saying I disagree with this here, but it only encourages players to complain frequently for what they want in the future. This generally leads to one group or the other becoming upset and if they don't hold firm one way or the other then they jeapordise themselves into losing both sets of people. But then, I am not in GGG's position. This is just the way I see it, which is by no means definitive. Bhavv is simply playing his own game. He's found a loop hole in GGG's rule set and is exploiting it. He's able to harass people, but it's not really the players he's harassing. He's simply enjoying making GGG fuss with him over this issue because he's found a contradiction that he's expoiting. They have rules in place against harassing people, but they also have rules in place protecting the harasser. He's playing them, and seems to be enjoying it.
We players are only helping him dick with GGG support. If we just ignore this guy, he'll simply go away. What the real problem is, is that there are people with real concerns who have their issues delayed because the person that could be helping them has to deal with Bhavv. That's the reason they should just delete his account and move on. |

You know the only reason why these things are happening is because people keep on reporting me ingame for my character names. A couple of devs caved in to all the reports while many others have already said my name is permissible.
Maybe if you can understand that much, then you should be able to understand the point of this thread? Im not playing any game. I made my first name with this word as a mere joke of the ingame nudity, and it was confirmed that name was permissible so I made more using it. You see it as a game because you are so easily offended by the word cock. I'm trying to refrain from posting in the forums, as they are normally not a friendly place, but I want to pose this question:
What would be worse? Warning people not to abuse to report function by reporting his character names when they were already GGG approved and not in violation of any rules? + potentially restricting their access to the report function. OR GGG going against their word, forcing him to change his name and conforming to the cry babies who report everything they differ in opinion from? |

So you get reported by many people. Yes, they are easily offended, that's beside the point. A vast number of player (I presume) want to see the name go. GGG just go with the flow and it's not hard to understand why.
And yes you are playing a game. If not, just stop putting cock in every name and move along. '' There is naked statue of cock in the game, so I can put cock in my name!!'' Where is the limit? Can I have a gift in my signature with a cock than? Your liberty kind of end where the liberty of other begin. They are annoyed by ''cock'' in your name. Bah, so be it. Is it this mandatory for you to have cock in your name? Lastly, yes, it's probably annoying for you seeing how the whole thing got handled, but why did you do your dirty laundry in public anyway? |

The word 'cock' isnt offensive, and as stated many times is a valid surname in several European countries.

" I don't think that is a valid argument as technically "cunt" could be someones surname. My headteacher at primary school was called Mrs. Cocks, highly amusing at....five years old. Return to this flameless sunder
