What level are you when you beat Normal difficulty?

I'd like to get an idea what level(and Class would be a help) people are when they get past Normal difficulty.

I haven't got through it yet. After spending what seemed like hours just trying to get through and to the top of the Pyramid, then once I got to the boss of Act 2 on my lv 34 Ranger I died almost instantly. I couldn't be bothered spending hours getting back there and trying it again.

I now have a lv 33 Shadow and I haven't even managed to get to the top of the pyramid without dying multiple times. I end up playing until I die somewhere in the Pyramid and then not bother playing again for the next day or two.

So just how much do I suck at this game?

edit to fix some inaccuracies. :-)

Ascension tied to Lab is the worst thing GGG has done...apart from GGG's philosophy on Trading. Oh and Gambling Loot boxes. And selling out to tencent.

I used to love GGG. I supported to ensure GGG remained independent, now I just wish I could get my money back. -_-

what u dont do apparently,is a portal scroll.Portal scroll remains even if u die.boss, dont regenerate health, but u are :).So u can finish normal quite easily,to be honest u are overleveled for normal.
Bye bye desync!
I usually go there at lvl 24-26, lvl 22 in races. A decently geared lvl 37 or lvl 33 character should be able to run normal pyramid with very little trouble, so there must be something wrong with what you're doing. I can only come up with one explanation for your troubles:

Do you have any resistances? And what is your life total? The pyramid and Act 2 boss are very heavy on elemental damage so going there with zero resistances and low life pool should hurt quite a bit. If you put a couple of resistance rings on and look for resistance mods on other gear too it should become much easier (a ranged character needs mainly lightning resistance for the boss).

Also if you have gone for only damage nodes on the tree it could make you quite squishy but that should not be a problem on first difficulty.

I play save and go in HC for Vaal at level 28-30. I want to be able to make a mistake.
It has already been said, but enough defense, life and resistances, are crucial for your characters.

If you already die in the pyramid there is something wrong with your build and you shouldn't go for him. I usually reach my level before entering the pyramid (farming the large chest in dread thicket) and just run through the 4 levels of the pyramid without bothering about the monsters.

From my style of ("normal") playing, I end up not below level 30 when I first hit the top floor of the pyramid. This also includes races over more then some hours distance, and is valid for any class I put to cruel solo.

Normal HC i play a bow ranger running burning arrow and split arrow + fork support. I use ev or ev+ es for armour and use life ring and topaz ring ((lightening res) for vaal fight. With this character i run pyramid and vaal and into cruel at lvl 24- 28. I use at least 1 portal in and out during fight to refill flasks, the fuckin spitty things give the ranger the hardest time, the oversoul itself is relatively straight forward - kite beam, hammer it, kite beam, hammer it, etc.

If you'd like some detailed advice, it would help to post your build so that we help you with specific ways to improve. Lvl 34 should be more than enough to beat the oversoul on normal difficulty. For comparison, the Pyramids in Cruel difficulty is at around lvl 35-40 (from what I remember).

Generally, new players underestimate the importance of taking defensive nodes. This is understandable since dps is much sexier than defences. However, if you intend on going far in PoE, you need to prioritize defences over dps. On every character I play, I pretty much make a beeline for the closest defensive nodes for most of act 1, so that by the time I fight Merveil, I have most if not all of the defensive nodes in my class starting area.

If you are looking for a build that will have an easier time in the early game, I would recommend a spell-casting templar with sceptre + shield. The spell-casting branch of the templar starting area has a couple of elemental resistance nodes, and you can easily branch from there to reach hp and armour/es nodes as well. The use of armour/es shields grant additional defences, and some of them have implicit elemental resist mods as well. The ability to attack with ranged spells further distances you from danger and allows you opportunities to kite while still damaging enemies.

Another tip for bow characters in vaal fight: it is easier to kite vaal lightening beam if you use a fast bow, i found by experience that a slow heavy hitter leaves you unable to react quick enough due to its slower attack cycle( you are locked in position until attack cycle finishes, thus stalling your ability to kite).
As far as hp goes i run 300+ which allows me to survive 1 hit from vaal beam attack, then i kite the next 2 and flask, that is if i don't see it coming, generally it follows patch of ice spam.

I beat it at lvl 30 as a marauder, but basically I had to put up constant portals and chip away at the a2 boss' health until it finally died. it took forever.
//go next
lol people use portals instead of being a man
