New trigger gem "Cast on Block"

I was thinking of this, it would be an epic gem for block builds!

Glad to see some other people interested in such a gem.

Maybe it could cause balance issues in pvp but most probably it is only a question of how effectiv this gem would be.
Actually I agree with Lud.

Both Cast on Block and Cast on Evade should have a damage treshold just like Cast on Damage Taken - but in this case referring to the damage that was prevented with said Block or Evade.

Hmm, I would disagree because with the mitigated value it would be too similar to cast when dmg taken. I think it would be one of the big positives that it would have different efficency versus different mobs.

Arctic Armour for example is much stronger versus small hits than versus one big hit. Making it a real "cast on block" makes it usefull in some but not in every situation and keeps it in line with "cast on crit" or "curse on hit" where you have to hit or crit.
A "cast on x dmg done" would be boring as hell for me.
Good idea, this only gem could allow to make a lot more build and i think it is largely possible to balance it (for example : X% chance to trigger per level, even with a 75% block you would have a pretty low chance to make it triggering.

Yes, that's exactly what i was thinking.

I don't see a big difference between cast on crit and cast on block. If you think of a cycloner with really high APS (like 15 or even higher) and high crit spinning through a large pack, cast on crit will trigger quite often. Or maybe a solution could be an internal cooldown like spectral throw projectiles not hitting more often than every 0.3sec.

I'm not sure about this, it's instantly better than Cast When Damage Taken or Cast when Stunned.

In both of those gems, you have to take damage in order to cast your spell.

With Cast on Block, you could max out block and spell block making 75% of all incoming hits trigger spells.

This would have to be heavily balanced, as you're combining a fantastic defense with a great way to return fire.

It's good on paper but it may end up being a balancing nightmare, that's my main concern.
