Path of Exile - Map Hack

Will it be legal or what?

If it wont be legal, what are GGG plans to check for people that try to use it?

And what will be the punishment? Ban?
The plan was that PoE is supposedly impossible to map hack.

It's not though.
Maybe not full-reveal (I wouldn't know), but people will at least hack the reveal radius several times bigger, since data for nearby monsters/terrain is sent to the client in advance. Also there are the other features of maphacks such as showing nearby monsters/projectiles on the minimap, which are obviously possible.

Time well tell if we do end up seeing these hacks or not. Though would seeing monsters and projectiles on the map really be that much of a boon?

It was a huge advantage in pvp.
Less huge in pve but still really useful, especially while teleporting through levels and finding a safe place to stop and clear (such as going right to an unoccupied corner in baal's throne room without aggroing any mobs in the room).

In PoE I foresee monster auras being shown on the minimap, especially reflect. Surely you can see how that would be an advantage.

You can already see your PvP opponents on the minimap though, can't you?

"teleporting through levels" how exactly would one do this? The only teleporting skills are flicker strike and warp. The latter has a long cast so anyone with decent move speed will out run it and flicker requires monsters to jump to and frenzy charges to consume.

All in all this supposed hack you are talking about seems pretty far fetched and not as gamebreaking as you make it out to be.
