my friend will be playing ranger so i was thinking about going shadow but what are the most fast paced / alot of crits weapon type to use..


That's a fair point. I should have added that any class you want can wear +movementspeed boots, it's just a matter of crafting them or getting lucky with drops.

I also should have added that shadows in melee combat feel kind of squishy, especially early on.

I alternate between rolling a shadow and a duelist. I've got a few templars, too. Like I said earlier, you can play around - the forum for each class has many useful guides to character development.
with some notable exceptions, weapon choice makes a bigger difference than class on how the game feels, I think.


if you're going to be flicker and dual strike (claws, dagger, sword) will feel a bit different than cleaving and shield bashing (sword, axe).. or leaping and sweeping (mace, staff)..

I've been into sword recently cause aoe for dagger and claws blows. whirling blades is broken (desync), and lightning strike is really not appealing to me.. i've heard some people use ethereal knives, but I can't get them to produce any real damage.. compared to something stupid simple like cleave, which I can setup however I please rather than having to use certain support gem combos to make it viable.

anyway... tldr: weapon choice will drive which abilities you can do as melee more than class will.
