About PoE and going solo

Lightning resistance! Of course! Lol!

Guess I still have a lot to study yet.

I am still trying to understand the gems and skills mechanics. But I guess I still need like 3 or 4 or 5 builds more.

Question: Every character has its own stash, or the stash is common to all characters?

Thanks!
The stash is shared by all characters in that league. For example, if you have 10 characters in the standard league they will share the same stash and gear depending on the level requirementa.

If you're going to play solo learn how to use the vendor recipes. They will help you get more currency and improve your equipment. In my opinion the most important ones are; Orb of Transmutation, Orb of Alteration,Orb of Augmentation, Orb of Alchemy, Armourer's Scrap,Blacksmith's Whetstone and Orb of Chaos. By doing these you can turn a white item into a decent rare sometimes. This is how I've progressed solo:

1. Build up supply of all the above orbs.I do this by grinding and farming like a lunatic. this has helped me two-fold. I get more currency and I also got better at the game by playing the same level over and leaning from my mistakes. I would try different curses on different monsters to see what affected what the most. I would try different attacks (fire ice, lightning) to see what was the most effective against what monsters.

2. Keep eyes open for white items that I can use that have linked sockets. You want to do this so you don't have the go through the frustration and expense of trying to do it your self.

3. Add quality to white item using either whetstone or armourers. make sure you do this first because you won't have to use as many orbs. You will only have to use 4 orbs to get 20% quality on a white as opposed to 10 on a blue or 20 on a rare.

4. You can either turn white item into blue or rare depending on your currency.

5. if you aren't happy with the item you can either re-roll the stats or sell it and try again.

In order for this to work you either have to be very selective or have extra stash tabs. I choose stash tabs because I'm a hoarder. You can read up one the recipes here:

You can also read the wiki for more info here:

Hopefully this helps. I'm sure people have different approaches but this works for me. I don't have the best gear but i have worked my way up to doing maps finally. More often than not I end us as a corpse in some dungeon but I'm having fun because I play my way and my build.
Arguing on the Internet: What's the point when you can't punch them in the face when they really piss you off?
DO not mean to necro here but is going solo still a viable option?
You need a good build to solo effectively, lots of life steal imo is the best I have soloed pretty much every boss except dom78.

Yes check my sig, the game is 100% solo in fact in many cases it becomes harder in a group if you are a melee.

Like you I am about 3 months into the game, Templar, 100% solo, standard league. Before this first-run char hit LV50, I was not aware of the existence of the forum and the PoE wiki. What I did was to learn, try and error, in game, and, of cause I made hell a lot of mistakes. It is actually enjoyable later on when I learned about all my wrong doings from forum / wiki.

When I managed to get to Cruel ACT2, I started feeling that there must be something wrong with my Templar as I got rolled over by the monsters in almost every new area, then I found forum / wiki and was greatly benefited by the PoE community ever since. As a Templar, I had a very bad passive tree at LV50 (not saying my current one is good, it is just, better), I got no keystones and not enough of life nodes, a lot of STR nodes linking to nothing. I took the advice I read from the forum and changed my tree node by node, by spending more then 50% of my loot converting to Regret orbs, and now I am happy with my first char just hit LV78.

My tips for you,
1. Take the advice from the good people gave you in this thread, and read more articles in the forum, then, start fixing your passive tree and your gear accordingly.
2. Portal scroll is one of the best friends of solo players. The first thing entering boss room is always to bring up a portal. I personally always set a portal even when I see a Rogue Exile showing up, some of them are really tough. When life / mana is low, when flasks are empty, when you find you do not have the correct resist flask with you, portal back to town to refresh or change gear / flask. Tough monsters / bosses can be taken down, piece by piece, portal by portal. I know I don't have a good build / gear, I portal back and forth more than 2 dozens of times when soloing Cruel Dominus, but it worked. XD
Cogito, ergo, sum.
