Avatar of fire, added fire gem, Chernobogs questions
" Good point, I got confused! Thanks for clearing that up. " I think we're pretty much on the same page now. But if you put Cold to Fire on Ground Slam too, that would give you 100% physical to fire. Let me do some quick calculations to see if that would be worth it. 100/87.5 = 1.142857 (1 and 1/7, right?) Which means that if you use Ground Slam, AoF, Hrimsorrow, and Chernobog's, then a Cold to Fire gem attached to Ground Slam would be equivalent to a 14.3% more damage gem. Not bad, in my opinion. EDIT: By my calculations (not shown), if you use Hatred and/or otherwise have heavy cold sources, as well as use Chernobog's and Hrimsorrow, you will be putting out more AoE damage than a cold-reliant Infernal Blow or Glacial Hammer build assuming same/similar setup, ignoring IB's corpse explosion effect. Wow, that was confusing. Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/ Contact support@grindinggear.com for account issues. So do we know if WED and passives like lava lash work with just any skill that doesn't inherently deal fire damage (frenzy for example) with avatar of fire?
Seems to me the whole reasoning for AoF is predicated on the idea that you can get more damage from fire + WED than normal physical increases. |

I couldn't really follow some of the more mathematical posts... But if you still have the original question: I have a AoF marauder build and the added fire gem definitely adds fire damage to my attacks. With the character panel open you can switch out gems/equipment and see how it changes your build. Also, don't remember where I read it but passives calculate last. So increased phsyical, melee, elemental, etc... all add to your total damage which is then converted to 50% fire. Anything that adds %fire damage or %converted to fire damage that is listed on equipment will covert your total phsyical/fire damage before AoF conversion is added. It's not meant to be an OP build where you can deal insane damage. It requires a lot of build specific passives and gear, and in the end game you have a character dealing similar DPS as everyone else just yours is fire damage... It is fun.
