Avatar of fire, added fire gem, Chernobogs questions

I'm wondering how these varying fire damage conversions work with each other.

Are they additive? Multiplicative? Does it work off your base damage for the skill? Does taking avatar of fire reduce a skills base by 50% since half the damage is no longer physical?

X - your physical dmg
Y - added fire dmg
Z - total dmg

C - % added fire dmg
E - % Converted dmg


Z=X*E+Y
Y=X*C


If for example

X = 100
and
C = 30% or 0.3 ( Added fire )
and
E = 50% or 0.5 ( Avatar of fire )

Then your total dmg Z=100*0.5+(100*0.3)=80 Fire dmg.

Ok, you're saying added fire goes off the base physival damage before AoF's conversion.

What about Chernobogs which is converted and not added. Does that work off base before conversion? Essentially giving me 75% of all physical damage as fire?

Also, with added fire damage, the skill read, "Gain x% of Physical Damage as Extra Fire Damage" and the wiki says, "Adds Fire Damage to the supported skills. The amount added is a percentage of the Physical Damage dealt by the skill."

So I'm not sure if it would work at all, considering with avatar of fire you deal no physical damage at all.

Posted this in another thread. Either way, even if it works, I think there are better supports for avatar of fire than added fire damage.

Elemental Proliferation
Chance to Ignite
Increased Burning Damage
Weapon Elemental Damage
Fire Penetration

Well this is what I'm asking, do these things apply before or after your conversion with AoF.

Although with regards to what you are saying, you will still have physical damage after AoF, you just won't be able to deal damage with it.

Right, but from the wiki, its says physical damage dealt. You deal ZERO physical damage, so either the wiki is wrong (since this is a new node, its highly possible) or Added Fire damage does not work with avatar of fire. Regardless, I think there are better option than added fire damage.

i think keystones and items apply at the same time

I'm pretty sure the damage is converted by items before it is converted by avatar of fire, but I havent picked up the keystone yet so I cant say for sure.


It's an easy thing to test. See how much damage you do with infernal blow after picking up the keystone.
