Great game! If you take the time and plan you character out you wont have any problems.

Tons of ways to make a character and if you screw up you earn Repec points and can find Respec Orbs and fix those mistakes.

Give it a try... its free!

I'm pretty sure you won't like this game if you haven't quit D3 until recently. This game is not for you to be honest.

In case you think I'm only a hater.

Like many BLZ fans (me since WC2), I spent 1000+ hours in D3, struggled to word the bitter feelings that lasted 1000+ hours since the first day of gameplay, in an organized form, to give them feedback to the devs. Although 1 P.100 and 4 P.50 before patch 1.07 when the exp were still not hugely buffed, 99% of the time I didn't enjoy that game.

But I've been enjoying PoE since January, like every hours in it.

If you can't even sense what were wrong in D3's core concepts after such a long period, you are most likely their target audience. You don't tend to think much, and you won't like this game.
You won't have my gear.

The general consensus is that D3 is better if you only want to play through the game 1 time, and PoE is for if you actually want a game with replayability and interesting character development,

I agree with this.

D3 first play through was amazing.
If Blizz didnt screw everything up from skills to items to ah to pvp they would have made a great game
The game does not adapt to you, you adapt to it.
Played D1 and D2 to death.

Played D3 around 200 hours.

Tried POE never looked back. I cant understand the logic behind people that prefer D3 over POE but to each his own :)

Edit: For a more constructive feedback. POE has a darker atmosphere. I loved D1+D2 because they were dark fantasy. D3 is disney land compared. Its bright, cheerful and the story is so poorly written its a disgrace to the Diablo legacy. POE has deeper system, great atmosphere, its dark and brooding, more challenge, more fun combat. D3 is simply too easy, and where it is hard it is hard for the wrong reasons.

Its like comparing chess to ludo man
PoE improved ALOT. My biggest concern was desync which they reduced greatly with 1.0.0. It's still there between 2:00 and 6:00 my German time (US prime?) but outside this timezone I can even play creazy builds like multistrike-cyclone now :).

It's the only point where I say D3 is better. They have some rubberbanding for WW-Barbs who move insane fast or Monks but that's all.

On the other hand PoE dominate at two realy big points:
- REAL char skilltree (this is MY char with MY passivetree setup! Not a 0815 Clone)
- INSANE posibiliys via skill- and suportgem combinations

Problem which both have:
- Trading

To easy and abuseble in D3 (I heared there are players with trillions of gold who don't even have level 10 chars just by AH-manipulations).
To hard in PoE (tradechat spam anyone?).

Overall with the latest desync improvements PoE is more fun for me :).
All I can say is this game is better in pretty much every way. I understand that is a bold and absolute statement..but it is my opinion. The devs of this game are going places that is for sure.

Diablo 3 took a chance by changing the dynamics of the game. However, I think blizzard went in the direction of catering to a broader audience; which ultimately failed the loyal and more hardcore fans, who have been waiting for a proper D2 successor.

D3 HC is good, and I spent like 100 hours on SC, then switched to HC, which I played for hundreds of hours. Permanent death is a very nice way for gold and item sink, and to make you nervous. And it completely changes the way people play. I am very excited when my WD hit p100. Also the community of HC is very nice. I am not a BLZ fan, I started playing D3 after January 2013, 8 months after its release. But I enjoyed playing this game, especially after patch 1.08, especially playing with a lot of nice people. I know what's wrong with D3,there're a lot of problems in itemization, build variety, AH, PVP, etc. But it evolves with every patch.

But now, as I mentioned previously, I'll just give this game (POE) a try.

wow, thank you all for answering my question. Too many friends quit D3 after the announcement of reaper of soul(d3 expansion), which is going to release around sometime 2014. It's not because of the expansion is disappointing, instead, it seems so good that a lot of people simply stop playing the current version and are going to afk until its release.

It seems that most of the reviews on POE are positive. I'll give it a try. I might play HC after I get familiar with the system.
See you guys in game!

If you are just starting I would recommend making your characters on Dominion(softcore) or Nemesis(hardcore). They are like the old D2 ladders. Standard/HC are where the leagues filter to and will have far fewer players atm.
