I'm so Glad that I declined...

Sorry to hear you feel that way OP. I play pretty much solo only and had to beg for the chance to go eternal, looks like they've accepted so that's good for me I suppose. Hope you find something to your liking.

now in this patch my 40 exa char, 2 levels from 80, couldn't even solo in the later act 3 merci maps.

Then you're doing something very wrong, since my clvl 73 self-found character can solo the new Act 3 areas in merciless.

And I don't even consider myself to be particularly great at the game.

because everything i had my char build around is nerfed, and it doesn't work I'm not gonna pay for a reset, and i will not re level a new char to 80, to see if i can do another work around to see if the items are still useful.

i guess it sucks to not mainstream roll you're build. mah

But it was the mainstream builds that got effected the most (except sporkers).
This game can be soloed. I do it all the time. Playing in groups is easier, and it should be. That is the point of playing with other people.

Auras being changed was a good thing. Now we have some real choices to make with regards to auras. We can also choose to not have auras, and that lets us take advantage of Mana Shield, or whatever it was renamed to. This is great. Before every character ran as many auras as they could, now the aura(s) that your character uses are part of their identity.
Bullshit, you get the game for free.

There are people complaining on reddit that parties in Merciless are too inefficient...

And OP is complaining that soloing is no longer viable...

Difference? OP hasn't actually played on merciless after the changes.
I agree too.
Legacy items: Why? Soul Taker, Kaoms beeing BiS for many builds and even MANDATORY for many builds to be able to run more difficult maps...what they did is they nerfed the new ones to the ground (while theyre still ridiculously expensive) and the old ones are unaffordable for 99.9% of players without using RMT/grinding for 1000+ hours in the past/powertrading. Worst thing they coulve possibly done.

For most caster builds...the whole concept is totally broken, you either go CI so you can do maps (in that case your MF which is pretty much mandatory if u actually want to find anything is hindered) or u go Shavs (again, unafordable for vast majority of ppl). Without those 2 u cant rly do any maps and can maybe farm like Lunaris (which has been nerfed too in this patch).
Huge build diversity right there....

The so called "crafting" system is utterly broken and proficient for maybe a handful of ppl that play this game. (talking about anything higher then chroming/linkin 4L items...)

Also I often hear ppl saying "if you dont like it, go to new leagues"...for what? Ive grinded for months polishing my characters, leveling and farming equipment/currency to have the best items for them, why should I want to throw everything out of the window and start the game from lvl 1 with 0 currency again and again? I dont enjoy that, I want to keep leveling my chars as high as possible and get the best equip for them.

But the worst thing is that u grind levels/currency for months and then everything is ruined in 1 patch, all the effort you invested to it. Not sure if I have the strength to do this all over again and after some months to find it all useless again.

I'm also finding solo Merci much more efficient.

I, too, am unhappy with the direction things seem to be going. I truly dislike the "legacy" concept.

It feels like PoE wants to treat a player one way--hardcore, old school, you invest your points in the tree and you can't change them without a great deal of effort--and I would like for them to take the same approach to their own choices. Don't yank the stats off the gear once you've created it, and if you must, change the gear for everyone.

I have "legacy" items and I *still* think it just bites. What if I want an alt to run a similar build, but can't ever hope to obtain a 2nd piece with stats nearly as good as the old? What if my husband hopes to follow a build he's seen me use successfully, but the gear can't be obtained? Facebreakers were just fine, and I'm so disappointed with the recent gutting.

All I can do is vote with my cute little pink and black purse...it is firmly zipped right now.

And I'm sorry for that, I really am. I hope to hear better news in the nearish future.

WHO CARE ? stop pollute this forum with your attention whore problem...

We don't give a shit how you spend your money and what you will play tomorrow.

This is a flagrant violation of not antagonizing other posters. The same goes for others liberally tossing around labels such as "obvious troll" because they disagree with the sentiment. One can disagree and still stay civil--if they put a modicum of effort into it.

I feel that solo play will be viable, and can't imagine PoE creating a solo unfriendly environment for long, if they have done so without realizing it. Since I play almost always as a solo or duo, I'd either persevere despite how the odds were stacked or become discouraged and stop at long last. Grouping just isn't in my nature, too many variables, too much fuss. < See, there--I did not agree with the OP but I didn't denigrate him or belittle his opinion. (And I'm no angel, I did post a goofy picture once in response to someone wanting to alter game files to expunge the tiny amount of nudity in-game, but this vitriolic segment of the community is not doing the game any good.)
