Avatar of fire question

Knowing what the new Avatar of fire does converts 50% of all elemental and phys damage types to fire, would this mean that Avatar of fire lets us combine spells and physcial damage skills and only go for elemental/spell damage nodes?
If it's a spell, like EK, sure. But that's not always the best idea, actually :)
At least for attacks, the point is actually that you can get high Fire Damage by taking Physical Damage nodes (that are higher numbers).

I'm more interested in whether it'll affect traps (the existing ones, or laid using a Trap support gem).
<Tyrfalger> Exactly, the next act is going outside Sarn and into those wheat fields (see the map) to become a farmer. Then we can spend our days endlessly farming. Wait a minute...
Sure it will.

spell damage only affects spells,you can't boost an Avatar of Fire sweep for example with spell damage.You can boost it by fire damage,fire damage from weapons,elemental damage,elemental damage from weapons,specific weapon nodes,or by simply buffing the original damage that you are converting (physical,cold,lighting)
Generic elemental-type damage is always low and not worth the points usually. Generic all-elemental damage is decent because it's more flexible. Elemental damage with weapons can get super high though, while stacking damage conversion to get all-fire and only have 1 element to lower enemy resists to or focus on trying to avoid reflecting on yourself helps a lot.

Combinations like discharge of multiple types in one blast, cold to fire ice spear, infernal blow abusement and burning arrow blackgleam are the main point of AoF. It'll be fun to play with.

Will probably look pretty weird though if AoF doesn't put some kind of hue on cold spells to make them red, else a ball of frozen ice like cold snap will make stuff light aflame :/

But having AoF means that you can no longer benefit from phys damage nodes. Im curious on how its gonna play out

Are you sure? It's going to be insanely powerful then. I guess I know what character I'm going to play in Nemesis.

@Danoga
You are wrong. It does. Converted Damage does benefit from parential damage increases.
@moo
They would have to specify: non-trap damage. But they didn't. I'm sure. You can check it right now, if Blackgleam converts Bear Trap's damage.

how will it make traps insanely powerful exactly?

bear trap fire 100% fire conversion can be cool, but bear trap got nerfed pretty hard.
