The Blood Dance Sharkskin Boots - Perfect Example of What a Unique Should Be

These boots aren't 'a great design', they're just incredibly powerful and relatively easy to obtain.

If Shavronne's was as easy to find as these boots, level ~40 req (and less ES), but otherwise did the same thing it does now, then it wouldn't be any more powerful or build-enabling than these boots. Same for Soul taker if it has less dps, lvl ~50 req, and was more obtainable.

The boots are balanced and your two examples are not.

That is an incorrect statement. If soultaker has less DPS, you couldn't use it anywhere near as effectively. If Shavronne's had less ES and was readily available, it would be considered a build-enabling unique for low-life farming builds, and nothing more.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

your post shows that they are in fact unbalanced.
the fact that they are a little controversial as to whether they are good or not is a testament to how well designed they are - depending on how you want to play the game, they may appear useful or be outshone by other things

this is why the price never went crazy on these boots, I could have always purchased them but because they were always pretty low key on the hype machine, they went under my radar

overall 'discovering' them for myself was a lot more fun

that is what a unique ought to be - I saw "Sharkskin Boots" laying on the floor and I was intrigued as I wasn't sure what it could be. Unlike Occultist Vestment where I'd practically find myself praying that it wasn't an Infernal Mantle or a wrapped mitts that I'd probably just leave lying on the floor anyways...yes yes chance orbs, but...SPITE

If I got a soultaker 1 minute from now I'd sell it immediately, these boots I want to keep, I want to conduct tests I want to run around with gore footprints =p
Uh, so confused by you.

The boots are balanced, your examples are not.

Yes, thats the point. Shav and Soultaker are not balanced.

But ifthey were scaled down to be similar in power now for lategame for a character at level 40, so at level 40 your characters boost in 'power' would be the same as if you equip them at level 70/80 now, would they be OP at level 70/80?

Probably not

So I made a mistake - I had these boots and enjoyed using them. Then I decided to try a Vaal Orb on them - it converted the boots to a normal rare set of boots.

Any thoughts on how I can farm for this unique again? I'd really like it back!

Bug Fixes:
People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it.

Blood Dance have been my favourite unique for a long time.
In design as well as application.
I recently destroyed one pair with a vaal orb, but still have 2 left, so that's okay.
The way they enable blood rage on life builds (with -60% chaos res) is just awesome, among other things.

I'm all for common (and inexpensive) items such as this, that allow players to try out things that otherwise would require a huge currency/passive investment to use.

7% regen on a frenzy charge build that has trouble accessing most of the %regen passives, yes please.
Many lewt.
Much desync.
Such rewarding.
Wow.
According to forum mods "sandwich" is considered an offensive word. Who knew?
I really love these boots but I really dislike these threads as even the slightest sort of praise of popularity can easily drive an item from being viewed as under powered to well balanced to imbalanced.

With that said, these are the best designed uniques in the game nad for the longest time completely underaprecaited (which was a good thing). uniques should be serve a niche, not be all encompassing.

I figure ill eventually take a vaal orb to them all when GGG releases vaal pact gloves and officially ruins their game and image beyond repair.
