i know theres an option for medium or high, but none for low so i was wondering if they will ever add a low option.

" Is it called medium? huh. I thought that the medium setting was low enough as it is. To go lower might look plain ugly. If you are having trouble with fps while playing, make sure you have: Shadows off Anti-aliasing off post processing off vsync on If your rig still lags, consider getting an upgrade. " I believe this was the reason why there won't be any other options lower then Medium. Sweeping Maid

They should just rename medium to low...

They really should just rename it then, if they don't intend on adding a lower resolution below it. I have to play on the lowest of the settings, with everything turned off, except Vertical sync. I average around 10 frames, which for me is still playable, but that's only because I'm used to it on my laptop. If an upgrade were an option, I'd have done it by now.
For me, graphics don't matter NEARLY as much as the play and enjoyment level of a game. I've never had a problem with the way Diablo II, Runescape, Morrowing or other outdated or poor looking textured games, as long as they're fun to play. Unfortunately, my 4 year old notebook seems to disagree and gets worse and worse with each game I play. |

The thing is that the medium option was not even planned. Due to an issue with the memory limitations of 32 bit windows the full texture package caused the client to use more memory than possible and crash. So to fix this the medium option was put in for 32 bit windows users. If you use 32 bit windows or have very little RAM use the medium option, otherwise the full texture package is best.
If you PC lacks even the memory to effectively load the medium textures then I would say that the games minimum requirements exceed your system configuration. |

I'd really love a low option. I play on my PC and laptop. PC I have very few lag issues, some desync stuff but frame rate is fine. I still run with all the settings low/off and would love lower. There's still a ton of lag from most projectile skills. Hell, I still don't want to party with a summoner or a poison arrow user. Brings my PC to a halt at some points.

I played around with the settings on my laptop, I can run the game on 1680x1050, shadows off and AA off, everything else maxed/on. Shadows murder the laptop even when overclocked.
Fetid pool with shadows: High=27 fps Medium=35 fps Off=60 fps Tar is also very intensive with shadows on, I killed a few of those tar zombies and my fps dropped to 15(!), turned off shadows and it's at 60. So yea, shadows are great, but also VERY costly, so is AA. One more thing, you could try lowering the resolution, but in my opinion the game looks better with shadows off and high resolution, instead of shadows high and low resolution. It's very blurry on 1360x768.. |
