Cant seem to find an answer... (Question about chance orbs)
I remember someone saying the odds of getting a unique item from chancing it's white base was 1 out of 500, but I cant seem to confirm this.
Does anyone know if this is true and if not what the chance is? |

" The odds are exactly the same as the unique dropping from a white monster unmodified by any IIQ/IIR. Last edited by Nightmare90#4217 on Oct 16, 2013, 6:37:58 AM

" Well... That can't be entirely true because monsters can drop white items. You can't get a white item from chancing a white item. |

It depends on which item you are trying to chance. Some uniques are much more rare than others and this will be reflected in the odds of getting them from a chance orb as well. And no one really knows what the exact odds are for any specific one.

" That has nothing to do with the chance for uniques. Uniques are rolled completely seperately - so a chance orb rolls if it becomes unique (probably with the same chance to succeed as you roll on moster kill) and if it fails it has x% cahnce to become rare and (100-x)% to become magical. " What I said was based on the fact that you do not have a chance to get currency out of chancing a white item, nor do you have a chance to get another white item, therefore your chance to get a unique item when using an orb of chance HAS to be higher than when you kill a white monster which might not drop anything at all. |

" No. GGG stated multiple times that the chance to get a unique using Orb of Chance is the same as the unmodified chance of getting a unique by a slain white monster. The things you mention does not need to be correlated. It could even be possible that currency and item drops are separated and occur independently. Let's say hypothetically rolling a 100 sided dice: White Monster Droplist: 1-66 = Nothing at all 67-88 = Magic Item 88-95 = Currency Item 95-99 = Rare Item 99-100 = Unique Item Orb of Chance on White Item "Droplist": 1-95 = Magic Item 95-99 = Rare Item 99-100 = Unique Item Every Roll is furthermore broken down in specialized Droplist with different weightings for different Currency Items and Uniques as an example. The unmodified chance is the same. However it is possible to better your chance of monster drops with IIQ/IIR which makes it far more effective to farm for uniques rather than using Orb of Chance. Exception: You have a high supply of Orb of Chance to out-weight the difference. Hope this explanation helps a bit. In practice it still looks much different, as the game first rolls for Unique or Non-Unique and further down the road. Last edited by Nightmare90#4217 on Oct 16, 2013, 8:06:48 AM
