Avatar of Fire, how could it be used effectively?
The problem with posting on the 8th page is that someone on the very next page won't see this and will ask everything answered here.
All converted damage should be additive, as that's how its always been. So 50% converted physical with AoF and 50% converted physical with Blackgleam could result in 100% of physical damage converted to fire. This means all increased physical and fire damage would apply to all damage done. There's a few upsides and downsides to remember with this. 1. DOWNSIDE: You cannot convert any form of damage over 100%. With 50% from AoF and 60% from Blackgleam, you will still only be converting 100% of physical damage. It all scales down to 100%. So throwing Hrimsorrow gloves into the mix which convert 25% of physical to cold won't provide 25% bonus damage. 2. DOWNSIDE: Any damage not converted to fire, is lost. Say you use the AoF's 50% physical damage converted to fire and then use Heavy Strike with no other conversions. You're effectively halving your damage, since you'll only do the 50% fire damage portion, as AoF only lets you deal fire damage. Physical builds MUST convert all 100% of physical damage to fire (even if not directly) or they will lose any unconverted physical damage. Spell casters trying to convert cold or lightning spells to fire, must convert the other 50% of that element to fire damage, or it will be lost. 3. UPSIDE: Cold to Fire support Gem. Physical builds can use Glacial Hammer. 50% of their physical damage will be converted to fire, the other half to cold via Glacial Hammer. So 100% of their physical damage will be converted to either Cold or Fire. Now 50% of Cold damage is already converted to fire through AoF. This means that the 50% converted by AoF will get all bonuses from increased phyiscal damage, increased cold damage, AND increased fire damage. Link Glacial Hammer with a level 6 Cold to Fire support gem, and the remaining 50% of cold damage will be converted to fire. So ALL damage done in physical/cold/fire will benefit with each of their respecting increased damage nodes and 100% of each of these damage types will be fully converted to fire damage. Any lightning damage dealt will only be half effective, as there is no current way to convert lightning damage to fire damage. Any and all chaos damage dealt will have no effect. " I am interested to how elemental hit would work with AoF. I imagine the hits that WOULD hit with lightning/cold would just be 50% dmg, since the other 50% of dmg would be lost? |

" Yep.That would greatly reduce the strength of the skill, but it's a cool idea nonetheless |

Ya think they'll nerf infernal blow or will they let us have fun exploding everything?

AFAIK, in the past, any converted damage over 100% becomes added. 160% of 1,000 physical damage converted to fire, would be 1,600 fire damage. If this has changed, can anybody link the patch notes where the change occurred? I swear I remember Mark explaining it at some point, that you can convert over 100%. Edit: Nvm. Just checked the references on the wiki, where Mark said the exact opposite >.>
Ice Spear CtF AoF Proliferate should be pretty good. Lower base damage than fireball, but better crit, better projectile speed, and way better damage scaling. Only major drawback, IMO, is Elemental Equilibrium + 20% shock nova totem has always been the biggest burn dps enabler. I keep tryin to make other builds, but I always wind up making a build that finds a new way to burn things. XD damn it! Edit: And Frenzy is now a better burning arrow. " Converted damage is scaled back so it can't exceed 100% http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Damage_conversion Frenzy is a much superior critical burn skill, but burning arrow is a much superior chance to ignite skill. Depends whether you want more weak burns or less huge ones. Agreed, the main disadvantage to bow crit is the low base crit rate, compared to a staff or dagger. I think the superior crit-igniter will be crit discharge with voll's devotion.

My phys builds usually rely on %life leech from passives and gear. AoF sounds great but this means one gem needs to be LL:|
WIll probably try it out with my Infernal blow marauder and discharger. Maybe also wander. „I don't give a fuck if it was his tenth anniversary with his goddamn neckbeard...“
„If they think I'm going to let them sweep this pizza guy thing under the rug...“ No mod action. Business as usual. |

" You'll have to find a way to convert the remaining 50% physical damage to fire, otherwise you'll be giving up half of your damage just to do fire damage. |
